So far only French and German 3D Blu-rays have been released, neither of which include English audio or subtitles.

Well Go USA have been buying all of Tsui Hark's 3D movies and cruelly only releasing them in 2D, so this won't get a 3D release in the USA for sure. So far Tsui Hark seems to have had enough clout in Hong Kong to get his films released on 3D Blu-ray there, so hopefully this will be coming soon for those of us who can play Region A discs because that's the only chance of an English-friendly version - it doesn't look like there will be 3D releases in the UK or Australia. Keep an eye out at dddhouse, yesasia and all the usual places...

the asian release hasn't been announced yet i think, we'll see if it gets 3D version
but since i am french i will gladly take the french version

DDDHouse puts up their pre-orders two weeks in advance. Hopefully, a HK BD3D will be available within 2-6 weeks.

I've been checking too. Also on Yes Asia's mailing list. With the popularity of 3D so high throughout that area, can't imagine a region A 3D release of this film not being issued for Asia.

I love these Detective Dee movies and the 3D for the other one's have been top notch - am looking forward to seeing this. Well Go USA also seems to favor DTS-X and not include Dolby Atmos

Asia usually releases their films in 3D with English subtitles. Just have to keep watching.

It has no English subtitles, I can confirm that already. It's basically just German friendly.

So, not finding any English subs, except for this one. There's a 2D Blu-ray releasing in the U.S. on 11/13 (w/DTS:X no less), so I expect decent subs to surface soon.

Sampled a few scenes and the 3D is quite amazing... and the movie itself quite a visual feast (hoping to watch it this weekend, decent subs or not):

I'm looking forward to your opinion on the 3D in this film.

Also as i'm seeing the screenshots you provided i'm quite surprised that it's in the expanded IMAX aspect ratio, something that Avengers: Infinity War really lacked, the 3D disc of Avengers: Infinity War didn't include the expanded IMAX aspect ratio, i'll be happy if the Hong Kong release of this movie uses the expanded IMAX aspect ratio because it will really help the 3D immersion.

Tsui Hark doesn't disappoint when it comes to give us a fantastic 3D quality in films like this.
