Technically, Brad Pitt does have an Oscar. Only for Best Picture...

Definitely The Player.

A Bridge Too Far, Branagh's Hamlet and Around the World in Eighty Days have a boatload of winners, too.

Glengarry Glen Ross is a good one with winners Pacino, Lemmon, Spacey, and Arkin. Plus one nominee in Ed Harris.

On Golden Pond

Katharine Hepburn nominated 12x, won 4 (record for most wins by any actor or actress, all wins for Best Actress)
Henry Fonda nominated 4x, won 1, won 1 honorary
Jane Fonda nominated 7x, won 2

Henry and Jane Fonda are the only father-daughter pair to each have won an Oscar for a leading role. They were the first father-daughter pair to both be nominated in the same film.

There's a special place in my heart for terrible movies with overqualified Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated actors flailing about like amateurs. 1978's The Swarm is just such a monstrosity:

Michael Caine (2 wins)
Olivia de Havilland (2 wins)
Henry Fonda (1 win)
Patty Duke (1 win)
Jose Ferrer (1 win)
Lee Grant (1 win)
Ben Johnson (1 win)

And nominees Katherine Ross and Richard Widmark.

Oh, the humanity!

After confirming that Katharine Hepburn had won the most Oscars of any performer with 4 wins, I wanted to see which actor had won the most and it is a tie between Jack Nicholson and Daniel Day-Lewis, each with three wins.

I noticed that some of the lists for actors/actresses with the most Oscar wins places Jack Nicholson ahead of Daniel Day-Lewis because he has more more nominations, 12, versus 5 for Daniel Day-Lewis.

Some argue that Daniel Day-Lewis beats out Jack Nicholson because all 3 of his wins were for Best Actor in a Leading Role while Jack Nicholson only won that award twice, the other win being for Best Supporting Actor.

It just makes me wonder who people here would pick as the better actor, Jack Nicholson or Daniel Day-Lewis?

Obviously both also were nominated for the Oscars they won. I listend wins and those they were only nominated for seperatly. That’s how the IMDb link you posted above actually does it, it lists three wins and four nominations for Bergman.
