Default Can we keep it classy?

People, please can we keep it classy here and on all of the other forums.

I look around and people are shoving this in HD-DVD supporters face. Yes, it is a major victory but there is no reason to put people down.

Yes HD-DVD supporters went around the net after their so called "P-Day" but we do not have to do the same.

Think if you were in their position. This if Blu-Ray lost (yes, the smarter move was Blu-Ray in the first place but that is a different topic) we would all be *****ing and moaning. I personally would be out thousands of dollars on media if Blu-Ray lost as I am sure that some people on the HD-DVD side are.

We don't have to rub salt in their wounds. We do have to sink to their level.

Enjoy the victory in a positive way.

While I agree with you, I think it's inevitable that things will get a little personal and gloating will occur. This war has been very bitter and a lot of personal attacks and frustration has occured... it's hard to not say anything about it as the long time battlers feel vindicated by the announcement.

Well said!
This war was no doubt very personal for many people. Especailly if your posting on this site.

I say let the boys and girls enjoy this moment.

We've all earned it with our hard earned money.

My mocking is more or less directed towards Toshiba and Microsoft. I genuinely do feel bad for many HD-DVDers (except for the real *******s...), hopefully they can sell on ebay and make some returns.

I've been saying this...

these people are interested in owning movies in high definition....they are with us...

these are the people most likely to purchase a Blu player...so we should welcome them to their new home

It's hard to keep it classy when you have people like this spreading their brand of FUD even after the Warner announcement.

Personally, I don't care if people call me a fanboy. I've invested a lot into Blu-ray and want to see it win. And while I don't go to other sites gloating, it's only natural that people, some of which have taken the format war to personal levels, will react this way.

well..considering there was a 50/50 chance of them winning...they are no different than us...

they saw reasons in making their purchase as did we....even though some of them did so under false pretenses...they have invested in this war and should feel strongly about their position as do we...

If you wanna get real technical, I believe Cupric Sulfate Anhydrous (Cu2SO4, if I'm not mistaken, it's been awhile since I taught H.S. Chem) is a really pretty shade of blue, and also (technically) a salt. While I intend to gloat at least a little bit to those that deserve it (eproductwars.com's Mike HD & Milt as prime candidates), I wouldn't go so far as to rub CU2SO4 in someone's wound, nor sprinkle it on my food - I think it's poisonous.
Edit: OOPS! on further thought, I think Cupric Sulfate HYDRATE is blue - the anhydrous ("w/out water") version is pink?

while my last post was my gloating side, I do feel for the HDDVD folks who bought in for entirely logical reasons. I say they should buy HDDVDs off the folks willing to get out (and get'em cheap), and keep the player - while many BR fans scoffed at this thought in the past, some of those HDDVD players *would* make decent upconverting DVD players, too. I know *im* not getting rid of my 100+ DVDs anytime soon.

Historically placed, I see this 'format war' as very similar to the Civil War. It's pitted friends against each other, divided some households and firmly entrenched each side into believing that they were right. Many people wanted the South to pay after the war but Lincoln preached forgiveness. I think we should be welcoming people with open arms. And yes, there still will be those would believe that "HD-DVD will rise again!".

I was going to put an "except for HDNOW and Amier" line in my original post but I didn't. It is ok to gloat and show boat but we don't have to be complete asses.

The general consumer got screwed and I genuinely feel sorry for them.

You want to know how I got into Blu-Ray?

I walked into Circuit City with the intention of buying a HD-DVD player. I think it was an A2 for $199. I was looking at the movies and saw a few Universal titles I wanted. Blu-Ray studios with the exception of Sony had not been publishing much then.

I had my mind made up, movies picked out. I was doing a look through the store looking for anything else I could burn some money on (hey, I was board) and didn't find anything. I went to my last stop, the open box section. I alway find something I want there. Sitting on the shelf, by its self was a Samsung BD-P1000. It was a few days before the BD-P1200 hit the market. It had no remote, several Circuit City stickers/pealed sticker stickeyness and just looked like that puppy at the pound that is in bad shape but needs a home. It was $250, $50 more than the A2.

I went back to the movie isle and looked at the studios. Even though there were fewer good movies at the time, Fox, Lions Gate, Disney, Sony/MGM were all publishing ONLY on Blu-Ray. HD-DVD had a better selection of movies but at that time its only exclusive studio was Universal.

I ended up walking out of the store with the Samsung BD-P1000 and Casino Royal. I know have over 200 Blu-Ray titles and several players.

I was THAT CLOSE to buying into HD-DVD.

This war has only hurt the consumer. We should welcome these people into the Blu-Ray camp not cast them out. We all have the need for HD in common. We are all sick of regular SD-DVD. They just lost there way.

Now, RDJAM/HDNOW and Amier are nothing story all together.

Sorry but so many HD-DVD supporters were consistently obnoxious and boastful. Especially after Paramount. This is just dessert for said people.

Many of them deserve the crow feathers they are currently choking on.

Those that come here and are remembered for their rudeness to others elsewhere can expect fair turn around. But keep it short and if it becomes a flame war w/i a couple posts, call a mod..

What everyone needs to recognize is that Blu-ray.com is now positioned to be a great ambassador for this medium
.

Be helpful to the noobs and show them the ways we have already perfected in enjoying this medium, i.e., sales-sales and more sales on all pro-blu products.

Be cool and I bet they will be cool in return (most anyway)

I see alot of regulars being cordial and that's great. I suggest we keep it rolling forward.
