I currently have an LG 43UH6500, which I would like to replace this holiday season, because it's not very good at displaying HDR content due to its low peak brightness (~400 nits) and its lack of wide color gamut.
I'm considering the TCL P605/ P607 (55") and the SONY X900E (49"). Both TVs have full array local dimming. However, the TCL supports both HDR 10 and Dolby Vision, whereas the SONY supports only the former. Also, the TCL has both a higher native contrast and local-dimming contrast (6437: 1 & 7269: 1 vs 5411:1 & 6534:1). As for brightness when displaying HDR content, the SONY has a higher real-scene brightness of 546 nits vs 489 nits, as well as higher levels of brightness for small areas surrounded by darkness. Both TVs have terrible viewing angles due to having VA panels, but those of the TCL are the worst of the two. TCL: Color shift: 20 degrees, brightness: 32 degrees, black levels: 11 degrees SONY: Color Shift: 22 degrees, brightness: 46 degrees, Black levels: 17 degrees So, which of the two do you recommend? |
