Underworld - Blu-ray US vs UK? - Blu-ray Forum

i am after buying the first underworld movie on blu-ray,

i see the UK release has got bad reviews on quality and audio,...

can anybody tell me what the difference is between this and the US release,... and is it worth importing?

also,... i take it the UK version isnt UNRATED like the US version?

the uk blu ray runs for 121 mins the us blu ray runs for 134 minutes

I am watching the first Underworld now and i paused for few minutes. I thought movie pq is 3.8, there are certain grains in dark area. IMO

I just got it..awesome movie..my version was a little grainy though..didn't bother me too much.

and either one you get is gonna be a great movie... judging by the North American release i have there shouldnt be a big big difference... i mean... theres no swearing you'd be missing out on, there for sure way more than 13 minutes of action so there shouldnt be much thats cut out

The UK version (121 min) corresponds to the theatrical version (R-Rated) which was released in the US only on DVD. There were in fact three different DVD versions in the US: The R-Rated theatrical version (121 min), an unrated extended version (134 min), which I both have, and a Superbit edition that contained the R-Rated version only (121 min). On blu-ray just the unrated extended cut was released in the US, thanks Sony, not the R-Rated version. In the UK Sony apparently released only the R-Rated version. Might have something to do with the good work of the BBFC maybe, I don't know.

is the UK version worth it then? .. as it would save me importing.

am i missing much in the 121 min version over the 134?

... and "unrated" aswell?

I think the only difference I can remember between rated and unrated versions of this film was a little more sideboob from that blonde, that's about it. I didn't remember any extra action. Sweet freakin' movie!!!

I have the UK Blu Ray version of "Underworld", and mines states runs for 134 mins and say's "Special Extended Version".
I haven't got round to watching it yet.

they are the same length 134 is just converted to uk time

I've got theExtended Cut version (Italian) and movie lenght is 134 min + 2 hours of special contents. Quality is top level. I'm pretty sure is the same then US edition. Video 2:35:1, Audio PCM 5.1, Dual Layer disk.

The UK version is encoded in mpeg2 and not mpeg4 like the US version.

The menu lets you choose Dolby Digital 5.1 when the disc only contains a DTS version of the sound track. (The US version contains Dolby Digital 5.1 and the better PCM uncompressed 5.1).

Also the UK film is very grainy so I would get the US version like i did and if you don’t want to wait to long to get it buy from playusa but it will cost more, remember you don't pay any import tax on anything under the value of £18

Definitely get the US version.

It's a better cut, better encode, better overall package. You'll be very sorry if you pick the UK cut, for these and other reasons.

And, c'mon, with an avatar like that, you should know more about the version history of Underworld.

are they based in the US?,.. or do they just use a faster shipping method?
