Is there any advantage of a 64GB Apple TV 4k over the 32GB one if I'm just going to be streaming? I returned a 32GB one because it had 1-2 second freezes in the video near the end of streaming movies in Netflix and iTunes even during the credits in a black background and a system reboot during streaming and was wondering if it was just defective and not a widespread issue. Apple tech support told me that it was a hardware issue in the way I described it so I returned it to the store since I was still within the return period and got a refund but at this time I can't find any 64GB ones in stock anywhere. Should I wait for the 64GB model to be in stock again and get that one? Does the 64GB one handle streaming better than the 32GB one?

I had the 64 version of the last AppleTV. It makes zero difference.
Streaming uses the same 8gigs internal on both devices. The storage is strictly for loading movies on the device. Maybe if you were going somewhere without internet and wanted to load a bunch of movies local, it would be beneficial. |

I only bought the 64GB version because it was only $20 more. $180 - $200 - Skip dessert twice and done.
I love it. Best GiZmo I ever had. I use mine sometimes 4 hours a day. I have no regrets buying the more expensive version. The only reason I was tempted by the 32GB was availability was much higher. My Best Buy has a lot of them and no 64GB. But I called a local mac boutique and they didn't charge extra. |

You certainly can’t load movies on an Apple TV. If you can, it’s not ones you’ve bought from iTunes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It only stores apps. That’s it. I have no idea if there’s enough apps to fill up 64 GB. I imagine so, but ask yourself, do I need every app out there? I don’t, so I have the 32 GB model. They’re banking on people opting for the 64 GB model because it’s only $20 more. It’s like they’re asking, so you want to supersize it for only a small amount more?

Games can be large (since many need big textures and other assets), but apart from that I don't see much use for 64GB. The ATV's memory management system can automatically purge data to make room for currently running apps. If you use an app like Infuse (which stores library metadata, posters etc. on the device) and also play a lot of games, it may be worthwhile to go with 64GB to lower the chance that Infuse's data is purged and you have to rebuild the library.

There is about a 5 weeks waiting list for the 64GB ATV4K over apple.com. If you order it from BestBuy.com, it will arrive to you next week.

Most app developers pay no attention to how efficient their code is and apps are getting larger and larger. Unless you're the kind of person who buys every update of a device, for $20, I'd buy the 64GB unless you don't want to wait or if you only use iTunes, plus just one or two other services.
