Coming October 17, 2017, from Twilight Time, the Tyrone Power adventure classic Captain from Castile. This will be a limited edition of 3000 units.
Quote:
Directed by Henry King (Twelve O'clock High, The Snows of Kilimanjaro, The Song of Bernadette, King of the Khyber Rifles, Love is a Many Splendored Thing, and many more) Starring: Tyrone Power (The Black Swan, The Mark of Zorro, Witness for the Prosecution, Nightmare Alley) Jean Peters (Pickup on South Street, Niagara, Broken Lance) Cesar Romero (1960s TV Batman "The Joker") Lee J. Cobb (The Exorcist, Coogan's Bluff, On the Waterfront, Man of the West, Thieves' Highway, Boomerang!). Jay Silverheels (Tonto from TV's The Lone Ranger) Film score by Alfred Newman Trivia: Alfred Newman's stirring theme to this film, titled "Conquest", was later signed over to USC in perpetuity for use as the school's fight song. ![]() ![]() ![]() Trailer This film is in glorious Technicolor, but the only trailer I can find online is in black and white. The color cinematography on location in Mexico is one of the film's greatest achievements. Here is a video of Newman's magnificent music set to color stills from the film, to give an idea of just how eye-popping the color should look. Last edited by oildude; 03-26-2018 at 03:53 AM. |

I wonder why we had to wait YEARS to enjoy this Masterpiece on Blu-ray... Hopefully, this 3,000 Limited will soon fuel a General Edition.
A handful of the big budget spectaculars of the 1940s seemed perfectly suited to High Def, and this is one of the best. With TWO years in the making and sheer magnificence, it shames modern CGI blockbusters!!. I disagree with the comment above, TT Cover is sober, using nice still frames from the movie and NOT artificial Artwork, which was truly awful on the DVD cover. Frankly, as with many 1940s Classics, I expected a worse presentation. Remarkable Video Quality, as often in Twilight Time. Technicolor looks definitely stunning, the complex Reds and flesh tones passed the test. Resolution isn't breathtaking as in the Blood and Sand Blu, but indisputably top-notch. Audio technology in the Forties improved MONTH by MONTH and here is where this Release shines. ''Conquest'' never sounded as stirring on Home Video, the superb Alfred Newman score is one who gives the Isolate Score Track Extra an essential reason to exist. Overall, yet another FOX gem Collectors never imagined to see in its full glory. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. P.S.Who knows how long we will wait until they decide to Release FOREVER AMBER, which for TWELVE years (1947-59) held the record of the most expensive film ever made!. |

A great movie (although not $54 worth of greatness) and Alfred Newman's Conquest March at the end is brilliant (as is closing scene itself). It's been routinely used by the USC Marching Band so it's very familiar to the public even if most don't know it origins.
