Default Horrible catalog

Am I the only one...?

I have 10 titles now, and I just spent an hour looking through approximately 600 titles on Amazon. I saw *at best* 10 more titles I'd really like, half of which are not now available. There were maybe 10 more titles that I thought I'd like to have if I was bored and if I had more money than I knew what to do with.

Unless the title selection starts improving immediately Blu-ray certainly isn't going to make any more money off of me. I can't believe I'm alone in this.

Then write/suggest titles you'd like to see in HD?

I have 272 blu-rays so I haven't had much of a problem finding movies I want/like.

I have about 20 blus, and Id like more, but the ones I like, (horror movies) dont make it to HD often. If they ever do, Ill pick them up, until then I have to buy SDs.

I also have around 40 titles (in hand or on order) that belong in my collection. And out of the current releases, I don't want more than a dozen more.

But "horrible catalog"? Hello, the format war just ended. Grab yourself a beer, pull up a chair, watch 2008 unfold. I don't know what your preference is, as you didn't say anything about it when you started this thread, but I'm confident something to your liking will pop up as soon as you can say CES.

if I bought every title that I liked on Blu-ray I'd have about 75, so there aren't a ton available, but you gotta remember that there aren't that many out there yet anyways, there will be a lot more soon.

Yea. Save up the money that you don't use to upgrade your video/audio setups to get the most out of what you have - i.e., now that I've completed my current wants, I'm working on getting lossless audio capability - only 3 titles are coming out in the next 2 months that I'd pick up - Master and Commander, ID4, and I, Robot.

I'm not even going to try to explain why the blu catalog is good...just go take a look at the thread where people show thier collection. You are on an island by yourself my friend. I'm off to go pick up a couple more movies

I have about 102 Blu-rays, so I don't really have a problem with no movies out there; however I'm about max on the movies I want until more are release. Two are coming this week.

But HD-DVD has the same problems, back when I looks at there catalog I counted about 20 maybe 25, I think that number may be hovering around 35 now.
So if I add my Warner Blu-rays to that list I have about 50 HD-DVDs.

So between the two HD Format Blu-ray has a better catalog for me (and why I went Blu) and there's more coming every week. Remember when DVD first came out, it had a very weak catalog too.

I have 150 and there are still at least 50 more that I'm looking for... at the moment. But, with WB and New Line making their latest announcement, Im sure that that 50 will quickly grow... especially if they start optimizing for the Blu-ray format.

Dont forget that when WB announced the exclusiveness, they said new line and hbo would make thier decision hsortly, we just heard of new line so i would expect hbo to announce soon, prob next week. That gives us all the hbo shows on blu. Our catalog will only continue to grow. I wouldnt be surprised if next week we also hear weistien co announcing they are going bluray as well.

i bet the bda is very concerned that you won't be spending any money on blu-ray's.

that being said, there's only about 40 min i'd spend the money on at the moment. and if you're trying to say that hd dvd has more titles and your being bitter because you've gotta switch sides, there's less than half that number i'd buy on hd dvd

The selection could/should improve, thats for sure. No one will say that the current selection of High-Def movies is perfect. But im sick and tired of people starting threads about how they think the current selection is crap.

This is an interesting comment. Obviously if you own 272 movies on Blu-ray than you'll buy anything.
