None because it's stupid to want to impose my ideas of what I find to be quality on other people. I don't give two craps about the Transformers movies. Other people do. They shouldn't stop making them because I don't want to see them. That's just petty to think like that.

Don't know enough about Transformers or Saw.

Star Wars is a mess and is just on endless repeat, but Disney will milk it until it is truly painful.

Pirates has nothing more to say and should end, same with Jurassic Park.

Terminator I think you could still maybe do something with, it's probably the only one of that list I can still stomach.

  • AVATAR
  • Alien
  • Madea
  • the current incarnation of X-Men
  • Fantastic Beasts....
  • Disney Live Action Adaptations
  • James Bond
  • DC Universe
  • Fifty Shades
  • LEGO movies (the first was unique and fun, but we don't need any more)
  • Transformers
  • Terminator
  • Pirates of the Caribbean - I love all three of the original films, but they should have stopped there. The last two have been lackluster at best and they just need to stop now.
  • Fast/Furious - likewise, I have enjoyed everything so far, but probably time to give it a rest.

...there are many more, but those are the main ones.
(and I wholeheartedly disagree about Star Wars - never stop making those!)

I'd like to see less Star Wars films but I don't think they should necessarily stop making them. Certainly the magic of waiting for a new Star Wars film has gone now because there's only about twelve months between each release. Personally, I'd ditch the one-off movies and concentrate on creating quality trilogy films.

One film series which I definitely want to end is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The original had the flimsiest of plots to begin with and pretty much everything since then has been a remake of the same film.

Hellraiser can stop, too. I lost interest after the third one. There was talk a while back about Clive Barker returning to make a new Hellraiser film or reboot the original. Having recently read his long-awaited Scarlet Gospels novel, it's quite clear that Clive is not the man he once was and should stay away from the horror genre until he rediscovers his mojo.

That and the content of the new movies definitely killed the magic, originality and wonder the series had. Now it's just high budget exercises of cheap pandering and fan fiction. A shame, really...

On the other hand, the more trash they make, the more special the original hexalogy becomes.

Hahahahahahahah...... I couldve respectfully disagreed with you if you were referring to the original trilogy, but as soon as you made it clear you thought the prequels were part of the films that are "special" and full of originality and wonder that you think is missing from the new films, all I could do is laugh.

The only source of amusement I can see here is you. Now, the title of this thread is not "Ridicule Other Peoples' Opinions" so, unless you have a relevant contribution to make, why don't you just move along?

The thing is that most of the "never ending " franchises did end per se as in many people don’t watch or disregard the existence of later films in the franchise. Pirates of the Caribbean is really only ONE good film and the rest get progressively worse as they go. Transformers is also just ONE decent film and they get unwatchable as they go. Many of the super hero film series are worn out too.

But, the stuff makes money and therefore will not end until the money flow ends.

Die Hard... Make one more so that the franchise doesn't end in Russia... but end it afterward.

Terminator, I'm a fan yet even I see that it's been fumbled over and over... Salvation was to be a first in a trilogy, then they renigged, Genisys rebooted and retconned 3 and 4 for yet another trilogy set up.... they renigged again. Spending ungodly amount of money for a less than a sure thing resulting in various false starts, production companies, studios, etc.... The franchise as it stands is a continuity clusterfvck... it just needs to end, but again not before making a final film that gives it back its dignity.

Alien, clearly it has turned into the Fassbender Show and I've no interest whatsoever in any further misadventures of David the azzhole android stepping on Alien's toes.

Transformers.... if they continue giving it to Michael Bay that is...

DCEU, what coulda been great ended up a constantly compromised enterprise with WB interfering at every turn trying desperately to catch up to Marvel status... it's a hackneyed, rushed, disjointed universe that definitely needs to hit the reset button.

Avatar doesn't even need to be a franchise.

Good thing I don't need your approval to state my perfectly valid opinion.

A franchise can end any time you want, just stop watching. Why wish for it to not be available for those who enjoy it?

What I'd like to see end, are threads like this complaining about movie franchises, sequels, reboots, Hollywood has run out of ideas, blah, blah, blah. No one is forcing people to watch these movies. If you have no interest in a movie franchise, then don't watch them.

How exactly does this theory of yours work? How do films make money if “many people don’t watch them?”

I mean many fans of the originals or those that tend to stay away from later entries. For example, I tend to treat Terminator as a 2-film franchise. I suspect quite a few others do too as evident by low ratings of the sequels in that series. So, my comments work there.

Something can make money and suck. C'mon, Transformers films make bilions but lots of fans of the first one hate the rest. I dont think its that confusing. Sorry if it is.
