The 50 films you should see by the age of 14 is a list created by the British Film Institute in 2005 in order to inspire parents and educators to take films as seriously as books and other kinds of art. It was created by more than seventy experts including film producers, teachers, authors and critics:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BFI_lis..._the_age_of_14 Blu-ray titles which are unavailable to buy or pre-order are coloured red. I have not distinguished between regions. I hope that members will use this thread as a springboard to explore the different Blu-ray options available to them. Please post if I have missed any releases! ![]() Last edited by James78; 08-20-2014 at 04:09 PM. |

As this is a UK thread you need to amend your list. Kes for example is only available on Criterion region locked so is not available in the UK unless you import it and have a multi region player (something I am sure the majority of people in this section wont have)

I went to the international section but then I had to choose a country, I'm afraid. I'm going to assume for now that this list is of some interest to members from all over!

Ana Torrent is brilliant in this, although I think her performance in Cria Cuervos is her best. It's good that there are English subtitles and I really hope it's region free.

I've only seen Cuervos the one time, but I'm sure both of these will benefit from multiple viewings (as they can be quite overwhelming at first glance). How are you James? Why are you hoping it's region free? Your player can handle that can't it? |

I'm very well, thank you Sam. How are you? Cria Cuervos is so interesting because you can watch it as a family drama or as a metaphor: The father is Franco, the mother is the oppressed Spanish people and the children are the future citizens living without dictatorship. I personally think it should be on this list as well as The Spirit of the Beehive.
