It's one of New Zealand's most celebrated films. It won the grand prize at Toronto in 2002 and was one of 2003's biggest independent films (grossing nearly $21 million domestically and another $20 million internationally).

After a brief period of obscurity in the US (mainly due to rights issues), I think it's time for this film to get a new discovery.

And Rabbit-Proof Fence is really good too. Don't knock them.

Oh man, if Rabbit-Proof Fence ever gets a Blu-ray release here I'll eat my hat. What an underappreciated gem that is (and not just for Peter Gabriel's equally underappreciated score).

Sold on Whale Rider, another perfect marriage of visuals and music.

I'm intrigued that Shout!, of all companies, is releasing this. At least that should assuage my apprehension that all the bonus features on the DVD will be included.

In all fairness if Fox and Cameron could agree on something or pass it along I'm sure any boutique label would scream for those. Or shout. Shoot the Arrow Fox! No olives please. Several puns intended.

The Abyss is in the works. It will be years before we see True Lies though as Cameron has some regrets about doing the film (mainly in the villain plot).

The James Cameron regretting True Lie is a debunked rumor.

As a matter of fact, True Lies special features have been completed and are sitting in a vault. Cameron actually says Fox is to blame for the delay in releasing it.

But what is it with Shout and their digital download?
Didn't they get enough complaint yet that this is truly useless.(to me at least )
Only benefit and reason I got into streaming is because it saves memory on my devices and my other family members can use it too.
Why can't they join the ultraviolet or at least itunes?

I would rather they stop offering it and give the savings to buyers.

Beautiful film! The ending makes me cry every time.

The Aussie disc has some banding problems during the underwater scenes. If Shout can fix this, then I'll be more than happy to double-dip.

Well, that could be said about a lot of titles already on BD

Very happy to hear about this; it's really a terrific movie. I was a hair's breadth from spending too much money on the OOP Australian disc recently, and I'm glad I resisted.
