“BIZARRE AWESOMENESS…
In the annals of creepy horror kids,
Cathy is up there with the best of them.”
Oh, The Horror!

THE WORLDWIDE UHD PREMIERE
OF THE DIRECTOR’S CUT & U.S. RELEASE VERSION

It’s been called “chilling and disturbing” (Film Fracture), “an absolute revelation” (Kindertrauma) and “unlike anything you’ve ever seen” (Bloody Disgusting). Now experience The Director’s Cut and American R-Rated Release Version in UHD for the first time ever: In 1947, a young girl is roasted alive in a car accident. Thirty years later, her grown brother returns to their childhood home with his mentally unstable wife and sweet daughter Cathy. But when the dead aunt’s vengeful spirit possesses the child, it will unleash an unnerving nightmare of creepy mediums, demonic dolls, and plenty of sick ‘70s foul-mouthed moppet mayhem. In an unprecedented source upgrade, both versions are scanned in 4K from the recently discovered negatives with 2+ hours of Special Features.

Optional Limited Edition Slipcase:

Let your love of CATHY'S CURSE shine with this limited edition slipcase, sized to house either your UHD or Blu-ray edition of the film.
Pull on the loop of black ribbon at the top of the case to slide the interior housing away from the slipcase. In so doing, the magnets discreetly packaged in the inner case will activate the green LEDs behind Laura's eyes. A single pass of the magnets create a steady glow, a second pass causes a rapid blinking effect, while a third pass slows the blinking. A fourth pass of the magnets will disengage the LEDs.
The LED lights are powered by CR1220 button batteries, which have a shelf life ranging from one to ten years, depending on the frequency of usage. The LEDs and batteries are securely sealed within the packaging and cannot be replaced without damaging the slipcase's interior.
The case measures 15.2cm wide, 19cm high and 2.4cm deep.

This is one of those films I watched at a very young age that stayed with me and still held up extremely well even into my 40's so, needless to say, I'm beyond stoked to upgrade! The film has giallo vibes because of the soundtrack but is 100% Canadian. The creepiness factor is through the roof. Can't wait to revisit

I'm shocked they were able to locate the negatives. I figured this would have been one of those films where that would just remain out of reach.

It should be a solid upgrade from the old Blu-ray regardless.

The film was released many times over the years by bootlegs like Jef Films in horrible quality, kind of the same situation as Funeral Home. And same as FH they were able to find original elements, thank goodness. Too bad Curtains wasn't so lucky. I freaking love Canadian horror films

Was that a large glass of Nestle's Strawberry Quick milk on that lunch tray in the trailer? Now I gotta have this 4k.

I also love Canadian horror. Still hoping to someday see Ghostkeeper in 4k uhd.

Blind bought it. Used the Shop App free credit plus a gift card. Was going to wait for a sale, but it wouldn't be on sale til November and who knows if that slip would make it.

Looks to be an improvement over Severin's previous Blu-ray.

It's only been a little over 2 months. That's not as long as orders I have with Eureka, Cauldron, Celluloid Dreams, and Neon Eagle.

No kidding. I purchased Cathy's Curse and Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker. They were supposed to ship in early April. We're now in late May and still no movement. Getting close to a two month delay. I'm almost to the point of telling them to just forget the blinking case and ship the two releases.

This is exactly what I did and I've had my bundle for close to a month now. Just tell them to ship your order and then your slipcover with your next order. If you paid for shipping like I did, they might send you the slip for free!

I guess Severin is still not shipping their four-film 4k set from two months ago, due to the slipcovers for this film still not being in-hand at Severin?

I ordered the "just the discs" bundle and it hasn't shipped yet either.

I ended up cancelling from Severin and got my copy from Amazon the other day. Shockingly both this and Butcher Baker which I ordered separately from Amazon both arrived in separate BOXES! Both were intact and the discs in both sets were pristine. No scratches or scuffs. I'll post my thoughts on the transfer later. The same art that's on the limited slipbox is on the booklet cover inside so I still have the picture frame image anyways. It just won't light up which is fine.

The idea that the batteries are enclosed in the slip is what makes the slip less desirable. It makes me think of those record jackets with liquid inside that dry out and just look terrible.
