Default Untitled Pirate Movie | Ridley Scott

In a recent talk with Collider, Ridley Scott mentioned projects he wants to tackle after The Dog Stars: a musical (presumably the Bee Gees biopic), a western and, to the surprise of some, a pirate movie.

It's not exactly a new goal: after Scott had completed Black Hawk Down, for a short period he contemplated making Captain Kidd, which would have been produced by Jerry Bruckheimer at Disney. William Kidd was a 17th-century privateer who went on to become a pirate. He was played by Charles Laughton in a 1945 movie. (Source: the Ian Nathan book 'Ridley Scott - A Retrospective'). Needless to say, the project didn't materialize and Bruckheimer hit the jackpot with Pirates of the Caribbean instead.

Scott didn't elaborate and there's no guarantee that if he gets around to the pirate-themed project it will be the same one from the early 2000s, but I thought it was interesting enough to share.
