I know this isn't the video game forum, but I thought folks would be interested to know there will be another place to be able to watch iTunes purchased content officially now on XBOX (existing One and the new Series X/S).
The new Apple TV app will not only have Apple TV+ content but also let you access your digital video library. This was big news for me, since I do most everything through my XBOX, and I find the pairing with my phone and my TV directly to be a pain. https://www.theverge.com/2020/11/2/2...-date-features |

Good to hear! Xbox is our primary source of entertainment too, even though we have an Apple TV.

Stick to your ATV box. Why? Because Apple have capped the bit rates on non-ATV devices. The max you get is 17 Mbps and most of the time it is 8-10 Mbps as opposed to 20-31 Mbps. Its even worse than Netflix at the moment who are streaming 4K/HDR contents at 15.6 Mbps.

Dropped a day early today.
Had a chance to play with it a bit. The app itself is very slick. Responsive. Was easy to link my account, and once I did I had access to my whole iTunes video library (including the Movies Anywhere content that carries over, it's always hit or miss which titles appear where, at first look the majority of them appear to be here). I sampled a few shows and movies - I don't have any way to measure bit rates or anything, but what I saw looked pretty good. I'll have to compare side by side with some of the other methods of watching to see what I think. Really, though, the big deal for me is having access to the Apple-only content that I have, easily on the TV without having to deal with casting/etc. Having it finally brings all the content I have access to into one system. And I really do like the app experience itself - moving through content, and fast-forwarding/etc. is very smooth and easy (I really like using the D-pad instead of the triggers like many apps do). |

1) Lawrence of Arabia - FireTV - 8-17 Mbps. Most of the time, its hovering around 10 Mbps. 2) Lawrence of Arabia - ATV (iTunes) - 24-31 Mbps (Avg-Peak) 3) Lawrence of Arabia - ATV (MA) - 25-32 Mbps (Avg-Peak) If you want screenshots, let me know. I have developer menu enabled on ATV using Xcode on MacOS and FireTV stick with developer tools installed. Last edited by lgans316; 11-10-2020 at 08:26 AM. |

This app works terrible on my Xbox one x
No Atmos and base hdr, no Dolby vision. The Apple TV app on my LG TV works way better. Solid Dolby vision and Atmos Is it working ok for anyone else? I always wish the Xbox could be the media beast but it’s absolutely not. |
