Disney 101 Dalmatians (1961) (Diamond Edition)

101 Dalmatians Blu-ray

According to a topic on DVDizzy, Disney Reporter reported that 101 Dalmatians will be on Blu-ray for the first time in Fall 2012
Quote:

The award-winning classic 101 Dalmatians was released recently in 2008 as a Platinum title, but will soon be available again at last - now for the first time on Blu-ray. The story about the Dalmatians Pongo & Perdi pair and their droll puppy has already delighted generations. The happiness of the two seems to be perfect were it not for the flamboyant Cruella de Vil! Fur is her passion, and especially pleased to have her fur coats made of Dalmatian puppy coat! We look forward to an animal fun for young and old - with a lot of excitement, fun and a dash of irony.

I'm soo excited

Question 101 Dalmatians on Blu-ray in 2012?

This could be a rumor, but over at the DVDizzy/UltimateDisney board a poster has shared a link to a German Disney site that has announced that Disney's 1961 classic One Hundred and One Dalmatians will be released on Blu-ray in 2012 as a non-Diamond Edition title.

Here is the link to the German site: http://translate.google.de/translate...%3D209&act=url

It's a little too early to tell if this is true, but it would be interesting if it pans out and I'd be curious to know why Disney dropped the title from the Diamond line. The film was previously released in 2008 as a Platinum Edition DVD and was speculated to be released on Blu-ray in 2014, if Disney continued to follow the same release schedule for the Diamond Editions as they did with Platinum.

The next two Diamond Edition titles, Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella, have already been announced for 2012.

Haha, I just started another thread for this, at the same exact time that this one was posted!

Maybe a mod could merge the two? Here's mine: https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...ml#post5373007

I tried deleting it before anyone else posted, but I didn't see the option?

I am excited for 2012 as far as Disney releases go. From what I have heard it is shaping up to be a big release if most of the rumors are true. I am not that excited for 101 dalmatians though. I love the movie to death but I just bought the last dvd release. It was only a couple years ago and I think its going to be really hard for me to pick it up again so soon. I am surprised they chose to do that honestly. When there are so many other films that could use a solid release. Such as the little mermaid, Cinderella, or both rescuers films. But who am I? On another note I am curious to see when they start releasing the newer films. Such as Atlantis, lilo and stitch, and treasure planet.

The world is going to end in 2012. So, no 101 Dalmatians for us.

Actually the world ended May 21, 2011. So, we no longer exist.

Anyways, all kidding aside, I'm looking forward to this release. I haven't seen this since I was a kid. I still have my VHS copy and never upgraded to DVD. So, this BD release is going to be a real treat for me.

This doesn't make sense, why would Disney give 101 Dalmatians a Blu-ray release next year?

Lady And The Tramp and Cinderella are going to be the next two entries in the Diamond Collection Line. 101 Dalmatians Platinum Edition DVD only was released three and a half years ago, this is too soon. Will it not be a Diamond Edition Blu-Ray?

I'd be really surprised if this actually happens.

Don't get me wrong I would love 101 Dalmations on Blu-ray as soon as possible, but Lady and the Tramp and Cinderella are already coming out next year and they're both Diamond Editions.

Going by the old DVD Platinum release schedule (which has so far been correct with the Diamond Edition Blu-rays aswell) 101 Dalmations isn't due out until 2014.

It doesn't have to be a diamond release, does it? It could well come out next year, Disney can do what they want with their releases.

You are correct, sir--
Cinderella's all but penciled in for October, and we should be getting a trailer in spring if we don't have one already.

IIRC by the original Platinum list, Little Mermaid should be for fall '13, with 101D and Jungle Book picking up the rear, and Aladdin and new recruit Peter Pan still left to be placed.
(But then, fooling around with Sleeping Beauty and Fantasia already mixed up the Platinum->Diamond chronology to begin with.)

I totally agree! My blu-ray requests, in addition to yours and Diamond or not, are:

Pocahontas 1995
The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1996
Hercules 1997
Mulan 1998
Tarzan 1999
(Minus Treasure Planet)

That site is not always reliable. I smell bs. Cinderella is the Diamond title for Fall 2012 and until I hear an announcement from Disney that they're breaking their Diamond edition release schedule or that 101 Dalmatians is no longer a Diamond title, I'm not believing this.

Please be true.
I love the modern graphic style of 101 Dalmatians. And a blu-ray would show the line technique that was used on the film wonderfully.
I would love to have it sooner than expected.

Aladdin was taken off the rotating moratorium lineup for some reason.

I was disappointed when I didn't see Aladdin wasn't on the Diamond Edition list when it was announced by Disney. I really really want it on Blu-ray. It's bull crap!!!
