Default Syfy's "Krypton" (Season 1)

Quote:
After breaking news that WB was developing a Supergirl TV show and that Fox was developing an X-Men TV show, both of which were later confirmed by other sources, Bleeding Cool is now reporting that a show titled Krypton is in active development with David Goyer attached.

Details about the potential show are scarce, but the name implies that the show may be pre-Superman, similiar to how Fox's smash hit Gotham is pre-Batman, and may involve the House of El, possibly Brainiac too. Goyer, as many of you know, is no stranger to Superman's world, having written the screenplay for 2013's Man of Steel, which spent extensive time on Krypton and showed the alien world prior to its destruction. This would mark Goyer's second DC Comics television adaptation after NBC's Constantine. Goyer will surely be a busy man for the next few years also having commitments with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League Parts One & Two.

Right now it's a rumor but I hope it gets done.

I'd be up for this, so long as they kept Jor-El and Lara as the main characters. I'd love to see younger versions of Zor-El, Zod, and Faora, too.

Another question I'd have is whether this new show would stick with the tech-heavy approach from "Man of Steel", revert to the ice crystals from the Donner era, or do something completely different.

Watch, they'll start it out with Laura getting pregnant, and then they'll drag it out 10 years!

I am going to call it now and say that if it does get picked up and runs for several years in the finale Krypton is destroyed and Jor-El and Lara send their child into space.

Its "Lara", without the "u". Her family's surname in the comics is Lor-Van.

Syfy’s Krypton Series to Follow Superman’s Grandfather

Quote:
DC Comics’ hold on television properties continues to expand today with the announcement that Syfy is moving forward with “Krypton,” a new television series that will explore the history of Superman’s ill-fated birth planet.

Hailing from DC Comics and Warner Horizon Television, “Krypton” will follow Kal-El’s grandfather with the following official description:

Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

The idea for “Krypton” originated with The Dark Knight scribe David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg (“Once Upon a Time”). Goldberg is set to draft the pilot with Goyer attached to executive produce.

In the late 1980′s, John Byrne scripted a comic book miniseries called “The World of Krypton”. It introduced a version of Kal-El’s paternal grandfather named Seyg-El (named for Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel). There’s no word yet on whether or not the new series will keep that name, however.

“Krypton” joins a rapidly expanding slate of DC Comics properties which already includes The CW’s “Arrow” and “The Flash,” FOX’s “Gotham” and NBC’s “Constantine”. En route to CBS is “Supergirl” with TNT developing the “Teen Titans” inspired “Titans”.

I'll give it a watch because of the Superman tie-in... but I don't know how long a series like this can go.

I've been talking in the Gotham thread about Batman without Batman... this would be Superman without Superman... only worse.

At least with Gotham, they might do something interesting and different... with Krypton we know the planet is going to blow up within the next generation... so they really can't have any far-reaching stories when you know everybody save a couple will be dead.

Just think of it like the opening of Man of Steel with Jor-El on Krypton, it should turn out pretty good.

First came Gotham. Now this. Can't wait for the procedural medical drama focused on Barry Allen's dad.

Can we have an immediate ban on "the untold story" in on screen text flashes? It feels like it is used ALL the time.

"This video has content from NBC Universal who have blocked on copyright grounds." So, now they're blocking commercials meant to advertise and stir up interest in the actual programming? I get not wanting people to steal your shows or movies, but its an AD, ffs...

The trailer is around on many different sites. What I don't understand is not being able to find it on any official sources. There's no official twitter or facebook page for the show. There's no trailer on the Syfy youtube page. It's not even listed on Syfy.com. I wanted to post an official link so it wouldn't be one that gets taken down. Did the trailer leak? Or was it exclusive to a certain news outlet?

So some people saying fake (though never seen a trailer that well faked) other's saying leaked, which explains all the take downs.

Found a working video on this page
http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/the-...on-is-here-209

But that being said it's using the Older DC Page turn Logo in this trailer rather than the flat DC logo being used in other media right now. Makes me think might have been earlier cut trailer that was not ready for release that leaked.
