I just got an Apple TV 4K yesterday, it is connected directly to my TCL P605 via HDMI. I have brand new certified HDMI cables coming Tuesday but currently using the one that cane with my Xbox One X.
I own 75 iTunes movies in 4K HDR/DV and all most all then ones I’ve checked out look amazing. I have stumbled across a few though that look incrediblely washed out and over saturated in DV and HDR, to he point where almost all detail is lost. If I set the ATV to 4K SDR they look fine. Odd thing is, they are all Illumination Ent animated films. Despicable Me 1 & 2 and The Secret Life of Pets are the ones this is happening so far. The following pics were taken with my phone. I know that doesn’t give the best results but, it a pretty good representation of what I’m seeing. Taken from just after 1:00 into Despicable Me. 4K SDR, trust me it looks better irl: ![]() 4K DV. Looks the same if I force the ATV to HDR. Trust me, the saturation is not from the camera. It actually looks that bad on my TV: ![]() It’s just odd because it is only happening of these 3 titles so far. That makes me lean towards it not being a problem with my setup. If it was a setup problem I’d expect to see it happen on more titles. I’m not sure though. Has anyone seen anything like this with there ATV 4K and any iTunes DV/HDR movies? |

I have issues with AppleTV playing Dolby, in dark scenes or with dark red and a few other colors, sometimes a spot on the image will look distorted.
I’ve tried in 2 different AppleTV 4ks samething happens. Anything stream thru it like Netflix will have the same issue. Tried changing HDMI cables, etc. Nothing works. HDR10 looks fine tho. Its got to be a software issue im assuming, so maybe the same for u. I have a Vizio TV and 4k content playing from any app native to the TV looks fine. |
