Default Your Name

Does anyone know why "Your Name" isn't available in iTunes (US)?

It's available in iTunes (Australia).

I rented the Blu-ray from Netflix & it's one of the best Anime titles I've ever seen.

I'd rather buy a digital copy instead of the Blu-ray.

Has anyone heard if this will be available anytime soon in the US iTunes store?

I'm guessing since its an independent Japanese release and no ties to any American studio/distributor, it may be a while. Usually a movie THIS popular internationally takes a year to be translated, dubbed and marketed to the U.S. I'd say once a distributor is signed you may see this begin to gain wheels in the U.S.
Till then Amazon DOES sell the import reg A/1 so it will play in the U.S. but it is pricey!

Funimation has the rights in the United States and the Blu-ray has been out since November.

Did the US release come with a digital code?

FUNimation tends to be slow with their films on iTunes for some reason. I had to wait for "Ghost In The Shell: The New Movie" and "Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence" months after their Blu-rays and appearances on other digital platforms.

That being said, currently "your name." isn't in any digital store, so it might be similar to the way most Studio Ghibli films are treated where they don't do digital.

You may never see it here in the US at all. Even if you did, it might not appear in the iTunes Store. It could be on another digital platform instead.

This is up for pre-order on the UK store so may be on its way here too.

Thank you! You just made my day.

I used to check on it every so often & finally gave up.

Great animated movie. One of the best I've seen yet.

Unfortunately, they only put the English dubbed version onto iTunes here in the U.S. so I went ahead and ordered the Blu-ray instead.

Actually, they're both up on iTunes as separate movies. FUNimation really needs to learn how to use iTunes to its full potential and put multiple language tracks on one video stream. GKids did it with A Letter To Momo (https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/a-...mo/id911125886) and Miss Hokusai (https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/mi...i/id1191950334). Even Manga Entertainment, the least active licensor in the United State at the moment, did it with Ghost In The Shell (https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/gh...n/id1219320615).

It's really strange that they added it as 2 listings like that when other countries seem to be able to do it properly
Seems like price gouging to charge for the movie twice
