Default Cheap starter projector?

Is there a decent to good 1080P projector on the market for under $500?

I started a similar thread not too long ago:

I ended up buying an open box Optoma HD 141X for less than $400 and have been very pleased with it. You can get a new one for $550. The BenQ is supposed to be a little better for a little more, but you can't get a cheaper decent 1080P projector than the Optoma.

I'm going to put up my whole budget theater build soon. I was able to get the projector, ceiling mount, blu ray player, cables, surround sound speakers, and DIY screen for just over $630, though I still have some improvements in mind. It's awesome, and the kids love it.

Optoma HD 141X - I can also totally recommend this guy. I bought it about a year back and, while it's not the absolute best projector you can get, for the price it's really good. The picture is sharp, the colours vibrants and it's not too loud. I'd totally recommend it.
