![]() ![]() Original Voting Thread Members voted on 20 - 30 films, with the first film counting for the most points (25), then each subsequent film worth less points (19, 18, 17...down to 1 for the rest). For lists that didn't have 20 eligible films in total, only 1 point was counted per film. In the event of ties, the film with more votes was placed ahead. In the event two films had the same number of points and voters, the film with more high-scoring votes would be placed ahead. A mix of poster art will be posted for the top 50--some classic art, some newer art--whichever I thought would best represent each title. I resized them this time in the hopes they would be easier to view/scroll. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of films nominated: 551The List [Show spoiler] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Statistics Voters: 44 Country with the most winning films: Japan Most votes for a single film: 28 Most first-place votes for a single film: 9 Lowest ranking for a winning film: 7th place ( [Show spoiler] )Ties broken: 6 [Show spoiler] Films by country Japan: 27 Hong Kong: 13 China: 8 South Korea: 8 Indonesia: 2 Russia: 1 Joint productions with non-Asian countries: 5 Films by Label Available from the Criterion Collection: 21 [Show spoiler] Available from Arrow: 3 [Show spoiler] Available from BFI (UK): 6 [Show spoiler] Available from Eureka / Masters of Cinema (UK): 5 [Show spoiler] Visually Appealing: [Show spoiler]

Seen 50/56 of the runner-ups. Just missing a couple of films!
Ten best from that bunch: The Face of Another (1966), Pastoral: To Die in the Country (1974), Andrei Rublev (1966) An Autumn Afternoon (1962), The Mirror (1975), Solaris (1972), The Color of Pomegranates (1969), Ugetsu (1953), Pather Panchali (1955) and The Sword of Doom (1966). So there is actually some great stuff in there between the lesser ones. |

* I hope these pics are showing up okay for everybody--I've been linking them from OneDrive, and although they do show up for me I wasn't sure if they'd be visible to everybody. If they aren't coming up, I'll come up with an alternate solution tonight.

I can't see the pictures, but I'd say the list started off with a bang - the first is the movie that got me into movies and the second is my favorite movie. I was unsure if the latter would make it, so I'm pretty happy about this!

I knew "Oh no, there goes Tokyo" from Shin Godzilla had to be included, and sure enough.
![]() Nicely done. Quote:
Either way, both very good and deserving! Eros + Massacre just barely missed out on making my list. Some might find it sinful that I'd rank something like, say, Godzilla vs. Gigan above it, but I am what I am and I like what I like and I like it on the back of a motorbike. |

I generated the image URLs the proper way and re-linked them, so in theory the posters should appear now. The gif on the OP will need to be linked from somewhere else though. I might look into Imagur later (never used it before), but if all else fails I always have my blog (which I've used before successfully).

I just watched all three of The Human Condition trilogy over the last three nights. Absolutely magnificent filmmaking. It's an emotionally exhausting watch, but totally worth it's over nine and a half hour combined run time. Would have easily made my list.
