I tried watching this and was quite bored with it. Just my opinion, of course. Couldnt finish it.

I love slow burn films, but hated this. Nothing happens, and the so called build up just leads to a finale that is obvious from the first frame. It just felt completely pointless.

I tried watching months ago; couldn't be bothered to finish it or speed through to the ending.

I really wanted to like this as I'm a fan of slow-burn, moody ghost stories and loved Oz Perkins' The Blackcoat's Daughter, but it just never amounted to much. There is literally nothing happening in far too much of it. Still, I'm fascinated by Perkins' attempts to build mood and atmosphere (it's a rare thing in the genre, now as ever) and will gladly check out his next foray into horror.

Didn't know there was a thread for this, tried watched it a couple of weeks ago but couldn't finish it. Just a whole lot of nothing happened for almost 20 minutes. But I liked how quiet and moody it was. Just wish something happened.

I love a slow-burn, but this was more of a no-burn and watching paint dry is probably more entertaining.
Last night I watched the director's (Oz Perkins, son of Anthony) previous film, The Blackcoat's Daughter. I found it far more watchable and quite creepy in places, but it's let down by a plot twist which is a cheat. |

This is more like a slowly moving painting than a film
I didn't regret watching it though There's some weirdness going on with the plot if I remember correctly... [Show spoiler]

A very good ghost movie. See no reason why everything must be seen under the same light, as so many fast, gooey, noisy horror movies. This one is different, period. And definitely not for all persons.

Just watched this and loved the austere atmosphere and cinematography. Such a gorgeous film to watch but it is slow, rhythmic and deliberately paced so you have to be in the right mood to see it. A real ghost story. I loved it. This is what I hoped Aranofsky's Mother! would be like and unfortunately wasn't.
