Default What's the furthest you drove to see a movie in theatres?

i.e. that film was a limited release in a different area, etc.

I'm having thoughts on driving 4 hours to see this limited release movie.

I've been to the theaters in LA, but I don't think that counts.

About an hour, and that was for Alien Directors Cut.

I've used public transportation to get to a the only theater showing Man of the Century. It took 25 minute bus ride to the subway, ride the subway with two transfers (45 minutes total) and then another 27 minute bus ride to the theater.
Probably not the same realm but it was a long trip to see one film.

Never traveled out of my city to watch a limited release film. Closest experience I have is when “The Witch” was playing I drove 30 minutes (LoL) To View At the only theater it was playing at. The nearest movie theater to me is 5 min away. So there’s that. I know, weak sauce.

I drove about four hours to see John Carpenter's The Ward in Santa Monica in 2011. Was the only theater in California that showed it.

About 1 hour. But that's not that uncommon, since the closest theatres are still 40 minutes away. The only one in town, feels more like a luxury home theater. I don't pay for that.

Everything I've ever wanted to see has been shown at my local theater that is 5 minutes down the street. They show pretty much every Fathom event, so there's no need to go elsewhere.

I drove 45 minutes to go see Only God Forgives (since it was playing in only one theater in Arizona)......twice in one day.

Luckily, I live in the L.A. area, so there are movie theaters in abundance nearby, including one a mere five-minute drive. However, this summer I'll be working at Glacier National Park, on the remote east side, where the nearest town with a movie theater will be a good 2.5-3 hour drive away. I might have to wait until the home release to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and/or Ant-Man and the Wasp.

I have an AMC, Regal, Amstar, and Epic theatre all within 20 mins. If a movie I want to see isn't playing at one of these - I'm good. I'll wait for the 4K/Bluray.

4hrs one way? No way in hell, I wouldn't even drive 4hrs round trip just to see a movie.

I'm in the rural Midwest so cities are few and far apart. But this movie I want to see is at a small hick town theatre. And there's nothing else to do in that area.

Maybe an hour, I live in Los Angeles. I have been to the movies in Argentina, Mexico, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, Arizona, Santa Barbara, and a few other places.

Been there, done that. Too many times. Go for it. Gotta do what we gotta do. But it’s almost always worth it.
