Default Adult Swim's "The Venture Bros." (Season 6)

Couldn't find one previously, and the only thread in this section pertaining to the show that I know of is about the Gargantua-2 special from last year. If there is a prior thread, please merge.

So, guys? What'd you think of last night's episode? Was it worth the wait?

Personally, I loved it. Yeah, I'll miss the way things used to be, as this is essentially a new start, seeing as The Ventures are now rich in NYC,
[Show spoiler]the Guild is in shambles following the Soveriegn's assisination of most of the council of 13 and death
, and, most importantly, Brock is back!

The Marvel stuff was pretty funny, and it was great to see Nathan Fillion return as Brown Widow. But, my favorite stuff was with Dr. Mrs. The Monarch trying to reassemble the Council. And I love how Phantom Limb is a major factor again

Nobody has anything to say? Okay. I'll still update with each passing episode.

Slightly disappointing second episode to S6. Most of that lies in the fact that very little of the time is spent with the show's main protagonists. Brock, Hatred, Rusty, Hank, and Dean were horrifically underused.
The stuff with 21 and The Monarch is gold, but Billy and Pete are simply only compelling as side-characters. This is the same issue that I had with S5's Spanikopita.
Still, little is known of Wide Wale, so his arching of Dr. Venture is not all that meaningful.

I used to dislike Billy and White (especially when they're by themselves), but I've grown to enjoy them as characters, and I like how the episode sets them back up with the others in New York.

I didn't like it quite as much as the first episode, but then again, I loved that first episode. Still, the parts with Brock and Hatred were great, as were the parts with 21 and the Monarch. The twists this season look like they're building to something hilarious, I just hope they keep the connective threads and don't stray a bit too far off like they have a few times in the past.

Episode 3 of the Season tonight. Hard to believe that it's almost halfway over. Order more episodes, Adult Swim!!! Give us another Season 4.

Adult Swim app has episodes on an endless loop, so you can probably see them that way if you catch at the right time. The website might also have them.

Huge improvement over second episode. Loved it. Gives some answers from past episodes, even past seasons. Best so far this season:

Episode 4 was a delight. Really do adore where The Monarch's plot line is going this time around. Plus, more guest stars... I noticed that Paul F. Tompkins did the voice of
[Show spoiler]Monarch's dad
.
I'm also beginning to feel that there is some credence relating to a certain fan theory stating that
[Show spoiler]Rusty and The Monarch are brothers.
This is especially given credibility with the recent development that Jonas Sr. and Blue Morpho were
[Show spoiler]swingers.
I have read beliefs that JJ was the
[Show spoiler]true son of Jonas
and Rusty was
[Show spoiler]a rarity- a twin born of another father, the Blue Morpho.
Billy's mistake at the end of the episode implies this.

The Venture Bros. is frustratingly wonderful. At this point a new season amounts to spending several weeks getting your favorite movie delivered to you in twenty minute segments. It's consistently great, but there just isn't enough of it.

I'm always more and more impressed at the world building in this show. It's reached a point where there really are no bit roles, and by the time it reaches an inevitable climax, we're going to be heavily invested in everyone's plight (which is a true feat considering how large and ridiculous the supporting cast is).

Gary and The Monarch's growing relationship throughout the series has been ridiculously satisfying. The payoffs in the Ventureverse always feel so earned.

I have missed The Triad this season though. And I'm still keeping an eye out for Fat Chance.

Couldn't have said it better. This season, in particular, seems like a movie, with each episode picking up only a day or so after the ending of the previous one.

I got my hopes up when Brock mentioned Orpheus, but these hopes were dashed. Also miss Dermott.

Kinda wish Wide Wale's daughter was more of a factor at this point. Kinda annoyed how Hank and Dean are now side-characters to The Monarch and Rusty, but that gives credence to a certain fan theory then, doesn't it?

Well, for me their erratic release schedule made me completely loose track of the fact that there's a sixth season and it started at the beginning of this year. So I guess I'd better go and get caught up!

I haven't seen last nights episode yet and can't wait to watch it when I get home. Think Tank and Battleaxe cracked me up last week. I love that The Monarch is inadvertently making Venture's life harder now that he's actively trying to protect him. In the short span of time that the Ventures became top-tier protagonists they've managed to have three Guild sanctioned villains die in their home.

Episode 6 was an absolute blast, especially if you love Hank as much as I do. Just the right amount of every character for me, except maybe Dr. Mrs. The Monarch, but her absence at least made logical plot sense. Loving how Hank and Cerina are coming along. Also loved that Rusty's arches of the week are basically Andy Warhol and the Factory. Only thing I didn't like was that it meant there are only two episodes left before another indeterminate period of wait.

There's only two episodes left until another however God-knows-long break? That's a shame, as it feels like the story is really starting to pick up. The Factory was hilarious, as was how the episode ended. It feels like Dean hasn't had much to do this season, but I'm okay with Brock and the Monarch taking up such large chunks of the story, as they're probably my favorites.

As Spencie said, the world-building of the show is very impressive. That they can fit a combined mythos of DC and Marvel into their own version of New York is a feat in itself, to say nothing of the superspies, arch villains and counter-culture.

This episode was a delight structure-wise. Loved finally learning a certain character's full backstory, as well as the multiple narrations. Monarch almost threw me for a loop towards the end too.

Something Dr. Z said makes me wonder about something though... Might the original Blue Morpho have been
[Show spoiler]Rusty's mother
. It sounds strange at first, but Dr. Z seemed puzzled by the fact that Morpho seemingly did
[Show spoiler]have female genitalia.

As a finale, disappointing as all hell. As an episode, great! Apparently, we'll be granted closure from the season in some form in some indeterminate period in the future.

It's painful that this has become their method of operation. So, we'll hopefully get some closure around a year and a half from now? Then a year later they'll tease us with another measly eight episodes that just leave us high dry again.

I'm not sure I can handle the emotional toll that being a Venture Bros. fan takes on a person. It's like being married to Scarlett Johansson but only getting to sleep with her every other anniversary.
