Default Onkyo SKS-HT750B 7.1 Speaker System

I haven't been able to find any reviews on this 7.1 Speaker System. It looks like it's only been out since the beginning of November: http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-SKS-HT75...9379316&sr=8-1

Any thoughts? I don't know much about speakers, but I do know that this is a really cheap price ($329 for 7 Speakers and a Sub), and that Onkyo is known for its receivers, not speakers (I didn't even know they made speakers).

Each speaker is 110W (I have the Onkyo 705 Receiver, which only outputs 100W per channel anyway - I think). The sub is 10" and 230W.

It says "When considering a home-theater speaker system, it is crucial that all the speakers of your surround system are perfectly matched. It helps eliminate any colorization that might occur in sound delivery. It also permits accurate reproduction throughout the sonic range." Is this a good reason to go with it?

I currently have a 5.1 speaker system that 's about 10 years old and is made up of 2 Sony Speakers, a Sony Sub, and 3 JBL Speakers (center and 2 satty's).

Would this be a better alternative?

sorry i am not the one to stop you, but lack of responses doesn't generally mean support for a decision or system

I recommend you go to the hardforum (http://www.hardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=103) or the AVS forum before making a decision if you cannot get answers here. Some of those guys on the hard forum know a crapload about speaks and setups and will be willing to help you find out if X is a good system or please rec Y for me given A,B, and C.

I'm interested in these speakers too, but they seem to be unavailable anywhere.

Anyone know if these were discontinued? Or if there is just a production delay?

I have this set of speakers (It comes along with a Onkyo 605 in a HTiB setup, the one in my sig).

They are very good speakers. Im sure they arent top of the line, but with a 605, they sound excellent for the price range of that HTiB system.

Are they available outside of that package anymore?

I wanted the 705 so I bought them separately. It looked like you could by the 750B as a separate speaker set but everybody who has them listed online for sale has them as "Out of stock".

Doesnt look like it.

Have you checked the Onkyo site? Perhaps there is a newer model out now that replaces these.

You might want to check these out, they may be the replacement for the speakers you originally were looking for:

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-SKS-HT54...1206537&sr=1-2

I am in the market for new speakers too.. this seems to be a really good price for a set.

Yeah, they're still listed on the Onkyo site as the current model. In fact, I even popped off an email to Onkyo to ask if they were being discontinued and/or replaced. No answer.

I called Onkyo yesterday; they tried to find a dealer close to me & gave phone numbers. I called the dealers; none of them have them!!! I can‘t find the speakers as well on-line as well. Does anyone know any update?

if youre going to get an onkyo HTIB you should get the HT-SR908.

its an Onkyo TX-SR605 with speakers included.

Thanks for you advise, I am planning to buy Onkyo TX-SR805 7.1 since it has THX & HDMI, but now I am looking for speakers, I don't like Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1 because they a bulky. I would appreciate any recommendations?
