Default CBS's S.W.A.T (based on the 70's TV series and 2003 movie) Fall 2017

Cast photo from Justin Lin's Twitter.

He directed the Pilot.

Shawn Ryan is also EP of this series.

Quote:
Inspired by the television series and feature film, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as a locally born S.W.A.T. sergeant newly tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to the streets where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, former Marine Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson (Moore) has everything it takes to successfully bridge the divide between his two worlds and excel at leading his dedicated team of brave men and women as they risk their lives to protect the community. Aaron Thomas, Shawn Ryan, Justin Lin, Neal Moritz, Marney Hochman, Danielle Woodrow and Pavun Shetty are executive producers for Sony Pictures Television in association with CBS Television Studios. Lin directed the pilot.

S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson, Stephanie Sigman as Jessica Cortez, Alex Russell as Jim Street, Jay Harrington as David "Deacon" Kay, Lina Esco as Christina "Chris" Alonso, Kenny Johnson as Dominique Luca and Peter Onorati as Mumford.

Premieres this Fall. However, it's got a really tough timeslot. Airing on Thursdays at 10pm

Yeah... I dunno about this one. The decision to put so much emphasis on race and police conflict is either going to allow for fascinating commentary, or it'll get the show torn apart. They better have some great writers on board for a storyline like that.

Shawn Ryan, the creator of The Shield, is one of the Executive Producers. He has a lot of credibility.

I do kind of agree with you that a lot of that trailer was kind of heavy handed.

For SWAT, I just want a fun action procedural.

Bump

This premieres Thursday night at 10pm

It’s gotten heavy promotion by CBS and Shemar Moore has been promoting it heavily too.

FYI, if anyone here is from New York, the premiere is pre-empted on CBS 2 New York. They are airing Thursday Night Football. It will air on Channel 10 in New York instead.

I'm in for this. This could be a fun escapist show if they don't try to get too heavy handed into the message of the week stuff.

Just got done watching it and I dug it. Really fun hour.

Some pretty cool action and the one thing I appreciated was that they didn't go overboard on the heavier themes like the trailer suggested. It doesn't bring anything new to this genre. It's still a weekly cop show, but I was entertained for the hour.

The synchronized shooting of the shooters at the carjacking was pretty badass.

Also, loved the ambush sequence in the final act.

and I appreciate that SWAT shoots to kill.

Moore is cool as Hondo, but I still see a lot of Derek Morgan from Criminal Minds in him. Jay Harrington looks like he really hit the gym.

Nice job getting the iconic theme song at the end.

When I first got hooked on Shawn Ryan's creative talent, it was with THE UNIT. Loved that show and it remains one of my favorite shows. But, with all of these reboots, I'm rarely impressed. But, the S.W.A.T. reboot really impressed me. It jumps right into the action and doesn't let up, not even when the episode ends.

While I was a fan of the original series and rarely do I like remixed classic TV show themes, the remixed classic theme at the end was pretty awesome. Can't wait to see what else is in store for this series. This show is now on my "must watch" list.

Nice to see Shawn Ryan and Justin Lim working together.

Pretty cool 2nd episode tonight.

Loved them using the old SWAT theme in the opening credits (although updated remix). I'm glad CBS actually does opening credits for many of their shows. So many shows don't do them anymore.

Now we know the Chief promoted Hondo strictly as a publicity stunt to settle the racial tensions from the Pilot. He actually wants Hondo to fail in order to promote Deacon.

I'm glad that they made Deacon a good guy and not some spiteful jealous jerk who is crying about not getting promoted. I've seen shows do that in the past.

The last sequence to stop Cuchillo was pretty cool. Hondo taking him out with sniper rifle from the helicopter was pretty badass.

They did go into a little character development with the team tonight.

If you guys like action shows, definitely give this a look. It's pretty fun so far. The 1st episode had a little more over the top action, but I thought this was a solid follow up.

I like Stephanie Sigman as Hondo's girlfriend and boss. I like her look. She's professional looking, yet sexy.

So far, so good after 2 weeks.

I'm enjoying the show as well. Let's hope the ratings will be good enough for this to get a second season. It would be slick to see SWAT air before each new episode of Magnum PI in 2018.

S.W.A.T. Gets Full-Season Order at CBS

CBS’ S.W.A.T. reboot is getting some reinforcements.

The freshman police drama has scored a full-season order from CBS, TVLine has learned. That will take S.W.A.T.‘s first season to a total of 20 episodes, according to a source.
This is awesome news.

Good news that it was picked up for a full season.

Not surprised it's 20 instead of 22 being that the show premiered in November, they don't need the extra 2 episodes.

I feel like Shawn Ryan is now in an upswing since he's had a series of 1 season and done busts.

The episode that aired last night was mixed bag. Probably the weakest one of all that have aired. It had a good idea (SWAT impostors) But, I don't think it was executed very well. Plus, Kenny Johnson and Jay Harrington was wasted in the episode with a dumb subplot.

The series continues to improve but there's more good news for the series. CBS just upgraded S.W.A.T. with two additional episodes, upgrading the season from the recently announced 20 episode full season to 22 episodes. Nice to see more episodes added to the first season. This was confirmed by TVLINE.com

On a whim I decided to give this show a watch once I heard it'd been renewed. It's actually really good so far, I'm really enjoying it! Hopefully it gets a Blu so that I can catch up with the first half of the first season that I missed.
