Killer Condom (1996) 4K UHD coming from Vinegar Syndrome

In one of the seediest parts of Midtown, Manhattan, strange things are going down at the aptly-named Hotel Quickie. The male patrons, who use the establishment as a playground for their every sexual whim, are mysteriously getting their genitals bitten off, with bizarre claims abounding about a carnivorous condom on the loose. Assigned to the peculiar case, Sicilian-born cop Luigi Mackeroni is initially skeptical - but the matter soon becomes intensely personal when, during an encounter at the hotel with a young rent boy, he himself is attacked by one of the man-eating prophylactics, losing a testicle in the process. It quickly transpires that the Big Apple is being besieged by an entire army of ravenous rubbers, and Mackeroni must work to crack the case before the emasculation epidemic escalates!

Based on the best-selling adult comic books by Germany’s Ralf König, Martin Walz’s KILLER CONDOM is a delirious horror-comedy in the vein of Frank Henenlotter by way of film noir, and featuring gag-inducing special effects by notorious splatter master Jörg Buttgereit (Nekromantik, Schramm) along with Academy Award-winner H. Killer Condom gets a 4K UHD release before El Cid or Ben Hur, and before The Abyss even gets a simple Blu-ray release. This world makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Haven't seen this one, but you have to applaud them for going all out on such an obscure movie.

If they are able to put out movies like this on 4K BD (which are really niche movies, and thus likely low volume, and low total sales and profit in $$$), the cost of creating 4K BDs must really have come down. It should also mean license costs for (at least this type of) 4K BDs are very low.

I guess that's a good thing.

Ok, where does that number come from and why do you mean it is mostly sold due to subs?

Anyway, I don't know how many copies 4K BDs sell in general worldwide, i.e. what is considered Little vs Average vs Much for different categories of movies.

My original post was made about 9 hours after the titles were available to order. The numbers come directly from The VS website. I just checked and Killer Condom has 4016 copies left out of 7000. The numbers on all the titles that are included with subs showed 2500 or so copies sold when I made that post which indicated that some 2000+ were going to subscriptions. That is simply an educated guess but the numbers work.
