Sorry if this is posted in wrong place, I looked around and this seem the most accurate place make thread.
I search around for a topic like this but really could only find topics from like 2012, so my question in this thread is now in 2017 how does Digital HD compare to blu-ray disc? In terms of video and audio I would assume audio from disc would still be better if have the proper sound set up but what about the picture? These are some screencaps I took of No Escape, it not 2017 current but it from end of 2015 and the only movie that I have both Digital HD and Blu-ray disc to compare. Screenshot 1 Blu-ray http://www.purplefreak3.com/images/B...No-Escape1.png http://www.purplefreak3.com/images/B...No-Escape2.png http://www.purplefreak3.com/images/B...No-Escape3.png Vudu Digital HD http://www.purplefreak3.com/images/V...No-Escape1.png http://www.purplefreak3.com/images/V...No-Escape2.png http://www.purplefreak3.com/images/V...No-Escape3.png I tried using a screenshot comparison site but didn't seem to want to work for me The main reason I ask is cause there couple tv shows I get on Digital HD since you can have access to them day after they air opposed to Blu-ray that won't come up until like a year after it been on tv and wondering if be worth it to buy the blu-ray version on top of already owing the digital HD version. Thanks for any help. |

It still depends on the title- I've watched some streaming movies that looked nearly perfect even when I was LOOKING for flaws, but then I've watched others that had painfully obvious banding and compression artifacts. Even if they can get streaming to equal the quality of Blu-Ray I STILL won't buy a movie on it unless it's significantly cheaper than the disc (and under 5 bucks). If something's available on DVD only I'll still buy that over digital out of principle, even if the quality is worse in that case.

![]() ![]() I would get Blu-Ray. Because new releases comes with both the BD-ROM and Digital Copy. |
