![]() Following animation studios all over the world, I truely believe the fast growing nWave is one to watch. I know lots of people look down on it, because of 'Sammy's Adventures' and 'Fly Me to the Moon', but every studio has to start somewhere. Not being supported by a major movie company, it's much harder than the big guys who have much bigger budgets and the best of the best when it comes to the technology to make this stuff. What amazed me, is the jump they made with 'Thunder and the House of Magic' and above all 'Robinson Crusoe' (aka 'The Wild Life'), animation-wise. Compared with the first feature in 2010 (and many other small studios), those are big-leg-steps. It's only a matter of time before nWave is among of the biggest European animation studios, attracting better writers, directors and talents of all kind. Already sold to 50 countries in Cannes, 'The Son of Bigfoot' will be released next summer. |

As far as stereo 3D goes, NWave's very strong 3D in their animated movies destroy most of the milder 3D Pixar and Disney have released so far, so if NWave can reach their level of story telling, that would be a big plus.
Thunder and the House of Magic 3D is one of their best films regarding story and characters from NWave. Wild Life/Robinson Crusoe was geared towards a kids audience and it hurt the story telling IMO. One of Pixar's secrets to success is to write for an older audience, not for kids. |

3D is the main substance for all of nWave's past work, unless you like sappy messages about saving the environment and having friends. They visually design their movies around 3D sequences. They've even produced multiple IMAX documentaries, targeted for children of course, about the history of 3D in movies. Check out their features in that format if you ever get a chance. You'll be in for an eye-opening experience if all you've ever seen is modern Hollywood 3D.

Hope we get this one released here in the US in 3D as we did "Thunder and The House of Magic".
One of my first 3D buys and still the best for out of screen pop outs and depth IMHO. Love cats too so I enjoy the story. This is one I have watched repeatedly as opposed to "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" (both one and two). May end up selling them |
