Trying to decide between these 2 options. Reading lots of bugs/problems with the 740 so leaning towards the combo of the 1080 with a Rotel(could be another amp brand). My room is approx. 2800 cubic ft. Speakers are Axiom M80v3,Axiom VP160 centre channel, Axiom QS-8 for surrounds & adding Polk OWM3 for front presence speakers.I listen at loud but not crazy loud volumes. So there is my 2 routes to go....any idea of what route to go!As always thanks for any help!!

howdy, i have many of the speakers you have, except my center is the big boy VP180v3 and i use and highly recommend for the heights to go with the OWM5 (you won't regret it
![]() i don't use a receiver as a pre-amp, i use a pure pre-amp (no output speaker power) and i have dedicated power amps driving my 11 channels. that aside, i recommend whatever receiver you go with that has pre-amps to go with the amp that's going to give you the most bang for your buck. prioritizing channels 1-3, then 4-7 and last but not least 8-11 modify depending on the number of channels you end up with. if nothing else, drive your front 3 with a big 3 channel amp and let the receiver handle the rest. that will cover you whether your a movie lover and/or a music lover. the axioms can put out some sound for sure, the big ones are 4 ohm loads and will take what you can give them from your amp and return the favor with good quality, loud audio. i have a big powered 5 channel amp driving my first 5 channels and a lower power 7 channel amp driving the other 6 channels and it works just fine. perhaps you can mention how you are thinking about powering your speakers as well as what you use them for in order of priority i.e. movies - music. best of luck, keep them axioms happy and they will keep you happy too. i've had mine for more than 10 years, no problems, never thought about changing them out and if i did, it would be for newer model axioms! keep us posted. Wow, your Axiom speakers look great and will probably sound insane when fed good, clean power. I'd love to hear those properly.
