Ah, the joys of masking!

I had a bootleg of the movie before it came out at the cinema, derived from an American screener tape. It was an unmasked 4:3 transfer, and contained a LOT of things you weren't supposed to see on it. The piece where Wilder is standing on the car as it rolls away was hilarious - you can see part of the rig attached to the car even in cropped widescreen presentation, but in 4:3 the entire rig is completely visible!

Funny enough, I bought the Spanish BD release of Silver Streak (1976) a few months ago as there was no UK release. I will buy the Pryor & Wilder (1980-1991) set. I presume there is a rights issue or something as I would have thought the likes of Indicator, a high quality video publisher with an eye for detail, would have included it, if they could.

I bought the Spanish edition, too. As to why Indicator couldn't license it out for the set...

Mine arrived too, beautiful presentation. The book is fantastic clocking in at almost 100 pages.

FIM encodes look great and a healthy step up from my old Aussie imports of Stir Crazy and SNE, HNE.

Really looking forward to revisiting these again.

It's perfectly watchable, and seems to be a straight clone of the US edition. As a matter of fact, it has the edge, coming with English subtitles, which isn't an option stateside. Region free, of course. OK, neither release is the pinnacle of HD, but I picked it up knowing that Fox being bought out by Disney means there's bugger all chance of it being licensed out to another label.

OK, Disney are bringing out catalogue stuff again, but one certain scene in the movie will bring that to a screeching halt.

Love these Wilder and Pryor movies, got my set in direct from Indicator.. despite their usual impeccable packaging in bubble wrap, my outer box has dings to the spine, noticeable on the shelf, and another in the middle on the front
Oh well looking forward to seeing these again, otherwise it’s a beautiful set.
Edit: Just got done watching Stir Crazy, not seen for a long time, was great fun and a really good encode on this disc. Only realised for the first time that Steve and Diane Freeling from Poltergeist are both in this.

Out of curiosity, who gets first billing on Another You?

There's two versions out there, one where Pryor is billed first and the other where it's Wilder.

It should be Wilder as he carries the movie (through necessity).

I would say the PQ was average. It is not what I would expect from such a film like Silver Streak if it was released today in the UK.

I looked up the review here, there is no actual review on the Spanish release, apart from the basic release details, however there is a review and screenshots of the Anchor Bay version from 2013, which seem to coincide with the Spanish release. 2.6 stars for Video Quality, 2.1 stars for Audio and 0.2 for Extras.

Silver Streak's high definition presentation isn't at all bad, but neither is it really all that impressive. The 1.85:1-framed transfer shows decent clarity and details. Facial textures are serviceably defined, and the train's metal exterior details and interior wooden panels look nice enough. The image appears a bit flat and certainly shows some age. Grain is rather heavy, and there's a bit of noise mixed in to go along with some general print wear, largely in the form of speckles and vertical lines. Colors are nether vibrant nor bland, showing basic hues nicely enough but not pushing a more realistic and varied palette. Black levels aren't awful; there's only a hint of murkiness to them. Flesh tones look slightly warm, generally. This budget Blu-ray won't dazzle fans or videophiles, but it delivers an adequate watching experience.

If you want the film in your collection, then I would get it, if it's going for a reasonable price. I am not disappointed purchasing it, but I will upgrade if a better release comes available.
