Castle of Blood (Danza Macabra), an absolute gem of the Italian gothic. Eerie and dripping with beautiful B&W atmospere. One of Barbara Steele and Antonio Margheriti's best! The new restoration should be stunning.

Getting this for sure but when on sale , I wish they would ask fans for suggestions . But I know many movies are with different companies and its not always going to be perfect . A Barbara Steel box would have been nice if they added Nightmare Castle, a re-scanned Terror-Creatures from the Grave , The Ghost , Long hair of death, She Beast & the legendary Black Sunday 4K , That latter is probably with Arrow . That would sell !!!

These box sets kill me as I really only want the 4K with a slipcover would be very nice .And take up so much less room . The rest will all be blind buys so I would have to wait for a sale . Also would have liked Vampire and the Ballerina which is kind of related to Vampire of the Opera in a way and Its OOP from Shout , Anolis from Germany has released it .

Pre-ordered at the sale price (with tax) of only $101.65! Ouch.

I agree with Mr. Thomsen and hope at least 1 of the other titles in the set is good. It's like buying laserdiscs again.

Fore sure and The Virgin of Nuremberg is one of my most wanted on blu . The Dracula Saga 72 would be nice as well.

Oh, man, I just watched The Dracula Saga for the first time last month. Our local film museum had borrowed an old and quite red English-language 35mm print from somewhere. It was still a blast, though! I would love to own a good version of that.

I wonder whether this will include the nude scene from the French version? Probably not, as the focus seems to be on the Italian version and the shorter export version. AFAIK the French release was missing shots from the Italian version, but did have a short nude shot, which was in none of the other versions.

The artwork on this set doesn't scream must have like the prior one. That one was sexy to where you wanted to have it on display...

I was hoping it was complete so I can sell my dvd since I never opened it.

Wow I was waiting for the pre-order to go up on bullmoose as that is where I get all my films from and knew the price would be less than Amazon. I was surprised to see it listed at $121 though. The first volume was $71 from the start. Also weird that the first volume was still listed at $71 yesterday but today it is listed at $89.

So out of curiosity did anyone hear if this would be complete with the short nude scene? I have the Synapse release, was that release a hybrid of the Italian and French release to be the complete version?

Also the nude scene must of just been cut right for the Italian theatrical run as it must be in the negative and if this Severin release is a scan of the negative shouldn't it have the nude scene?

It seems like a lot of prices have gone up at Bull Moose in the last few days.

The 2nd volume of this is currently $80 at Deep Discount, and even cheaper with a 10% off code.

It's not worth it to pay over $100 for this set if Castle of Blood is missing those gorgeous knockers.

I'm a huge Barbara Steele fan though, so I hope it is. I would really love to replace my DVD.

So I read your post this morning and was curious as well so I emailed Severin and this is the reply I received "The cut of the film on our 4K UHD disc is the full version (Danza Macabra), so it does, indeed, include the short topless scene. The blu-ray included with our release, however, is the US cut, so it does not include that scene. Hopefully, that answers your question."

Kind of wierd that they aren't putting the Danza Macabra version on the blu-ray!
