Thumbs up Marantz SR8012 11.2 ch receiver

Value Electronics hosted the 1st public showing of Marantz's highly anticipated new flagship 11.2 channel SR8012 receiver.

Here's a .pdf spec sheet on the new flagship SR8012.

This is an excellent example of how far our beloved a/v technology and high performance has come. Bravo to all of the Marantz folks!

Very nice! I would be inclined to wait for HDMI 2.1, if looking to upgrade.

Unfortunately I had to return my Denon X4300H receiver to Crutchfield because I couldn't turn off the DTS Neural X. There was no DTS Neural off or on option on the audio setting menu at all, even though the owners manual states that it is! I set the audio setting to "Auto Mode" to play DTS-HD Master Audio, or Dolby TrueHD automatically, but the receiver persistently upmixed DTS Master Audio to DTS Neural X, which I don't want. I've tried various of speaker configurations to turn off DTS Neural, but to no avail. For the receiver to play DTS Master Audio or Dolby True HD, I had to change the audio manually, which is an inconvenience. Is this normal for all of the current Dolby Atmos / DTS:X receivers because, I don't want to upmix DTS Master Audio to DTS Neural and if so, I just keep my older Denon 3808 receiver, and not upgrade to Dolby Atmos because I want the receiver to play the exact audio that's encoded on the blu-ray disc(s) automatically in "Auto Mode" like it's suppose to.

My SR 8012 just arrived from Crutchfield yesterday. Was just able to get it up and running and to spin a few Blu's before going to bed and was pretty impressed. The sound has WAYYYY more OOMPH than my Onkyo SR876. I can't wait to fine tune it after working this weekend. Oh yeah, and the Torroidal power source is MASSIVE in size!!!!!!!!!
