I thought this was dreadful. It seems to have been the basis for an equally awful K-Drama called Mad Dog, which also features Yoo Ji-Tae.

This also has a Ponzi scammer that runs away from the country at the centre of the story, but it’s not the same scam, I think.

I've watched both films over the course of a few weeks, quite unintentionally, and the cases just seemed so similar. The way the scam was set up, the amount of money scammed, the country the mastermind fled to, etc.
