Just watched the trailer for this (not in 3D though..sadly) This may very well be THE 3D movie to see in theaters this year. My God the visuals are just.......

Comes out Christmas 2013. All 3D fans need to watch the trailer. The potential of this flicks 3D is just off the scale. Looks like it will deliver in a big way (3D wise).

I have to admit, I thought the same when I watched the trailer. Very familiar feeling of "been there; done that",lol.

However, the visuals beat Dinosaur (imo) and I am hoping the story is better as well. I thought Dinosaur was dull personally. Hoping Walking With Dinosaurs is not dull as well.

I'd hope the visuals were better... It's been nearly 15 years since Dinosaur was released.

This movie will probably suffer from everyone going, "I can see this on TV."

The live show a few years back of Walking with Dinosaurs was sold out most times. I haven't seen a TV version of the live show, but if this is the same show where mechanically and human operated dinosaurs walk about the staged area, and in 3D, fans of the event and of dinosaurs may be interested when it's on blu ray 3D.
The details of the dinosaurs is impressive, built to scale also.

Thanks for posting the info Taygan315.

This won't be based on the live show--it's more of a CG pseudo nature documentary, like the original TV series which inspired the live show: http://www.amazon.com/Prehistoric-Ea...dp/B00153ZQY6/

And here's the trailer for the movie:

That's true, unless it's a kid's cartoon, realistic dinosaurs are better when roaring instead of speaking a language. Otherwise, I can imagine if they gave it a harder edge like with The Dark Crystal or Legend of the Guardians with the talking, realistic owls attacking each other in battle, it might work...

Thanks for the trailer.

Christmas 2013, December 25 it hits theaters.

The Walking with Dinosaurs animated 2D trailer looks cool, can't wait to see the 3D trailer. Hopefully before Thor 2 3D or the Hobbit 2 3D.
I really like how they're going for realistic dinosaurs instead of caricaturizing them.

Realistic... Talking dinosaurs...

And in another irony, Regal Cinema is using this film for their current "Go Big or Go Home" promo. Hey Einstein, you realize this film is based upon a TV mini-series right? You CAN see this type of show at home.

Not at all like the show this is supposed to be based on. I probably won't see this at all if they talk. I guess they don't think kids can handle a feature length movie without dialogue.

Yeah, this could be something else in 3D.

Well, realistic in the design of the look of the dinsaur, instead of caricaturized, simplified versions as with the bugs from "A Bug's Life" or Dinosaur Train on PBS.
I couldn't imagine how they could pull it off without dialog. The story would have to express communication through grunts and gestures.

Question

Is the original BBc tv series going to be released on Blu-ray?
If so, what is the release date?

And the confusing dichotomy shows.
(Yes, it's Disney's Talking Dinosaurs all the way, and sorry, life's too short to see one MORE CGI where John Leguizamo voices a character.)

And while, as of late, I'd gotten to the Active-fan habit of thinking, "Eh, 3D's better at home... ", I have to admit--
I was at the theater seeing Frozen last week (aka "3D Ice Spikes: the Movie"), and was not only treated to the trailer to WwD, the trailer to Disney's "Maleficent" (where the 3D was turned up to 11), the insane "Get a Horse!" short, and, to top it off, the Cinemark WwD-themed "Turn off your cellphone, because it bothers large easily-provoked reptiles" PSA.
(In 3D, and not in Russian, obviously):

(...Hey, no fair, who's putting good 3D back in theaters now?)

Thumbs up

Sounds good. Off topic, but How was the 3D in Frozen EricJ for the 3D layers?

Walking with Dinosaurs 3D is in theaters this Friday. Tough competition with Hobbit, but I'll check this one out for certain in theaters. The realistic dinosaurs in 3D could be awesome, even if they do talk to keep the story going.
