Don't know if I'll get this. I found season two to be uninteresting compared to season 1. I quit watching it.

I quite like the second season. If you like your pulp fiction to shirk irony and focus on just how screwed up the characters are, my guess is you'll like this. Hardly the first person to note this, but it seems to owe a great deal to James Ellroy's The Big Nowhere, one of my favourite novels of all time.

If you're interested in meditating on the intricacies of plot and psycho criminal mythology (which was practically a sport for the obsessive viewer during the first season), you may find yourself not giving a damn, or squandering your spare time re-reading IMDb summaries in the hope of making sense of the story.

One big reason this season gets more than its share of crap is that most TV critics decided to review the creator and his ego, rather than the show itself. Try to find a review that doesn't find some way to pin its "failure to recapture the magic of the first season" on Nic Pizzolatto's personality or hang-ups.

Alternatively, you can read some terrific analysis of the second season over at http://www.the-solute.com, courtesy of "wallflower", one of the best critics around. Cuz he, like, actually reviews the show.

I was among the many who were disappointed with the second season, but I think I'll give it another shot on Blu. I dig everything else that Pizzolatto has done, including his novel Galveston and collection of short stories, so I'm definitely willing to give it another viewing.

I can't agree with that but I did enjoy the 2nd half of season 2 enough to want to rewatch the whole thing again.

ooh, nice exclusives. Farrell for me, no question. I just hope it's in the same digipak style as the first season.

Didn't realize this is already only a week away, has there been a press release or any details about bonus material?

Not worth buying. Season 2 was a complete dud. If someone made me sit through this again I'd probably want to poke my eyes out.

I may be in the minority, but I wasn't all that impressed with the first season either. It had big long tangents that seemed to be plugged in to just extend the episode count. For this kind of show, I much prefer Luther. But I find I have to turn the subtitles on to understand the thick accents and mumbling.

Awful season. Showed some promise a few times and McAdams was excellent, but overall it was incredibly dissapointing.

Agreed. It was a mess from beginning to end. It was torture watching each episode. I kept hoping it would get better as the season went along, and it just never did.

The wife and I loved season one. One of the best season's of TV ever. There was no way that season two could come close. It was handicapped from the start.
That said, I did enjoy season two. While S1 had two main characters, season two tripled that, and what happened is an uneven storyline. And I also think the show suffered from using too many Director's. S1 had a singular cohesive vision, and S2 suffers from too many hands in the cookie jar.
I did enjoy it, but it wasn't as solid an outing this time. I will say the lead actors are outstanding, and do their damnedest to elevate the the material.
