Warner Bros Mortal Kombat (2021) Never in 3D

Mortal Kombat has not been released in 3D anywhere, which is extremely sad to see and infuriating at the same time.

Hoping to see some good news about the 3D version soon. Until then stay tuned for more updates.

Original post:
Mortal Kombat (2021) will be releasing on April 23 in the US, in cinemas and HBO MAX simultaneously. It has been confirmed that the film will be releasing in RealD 3D and IMAX.

Nice to see and big surprise for me.

Given its R rated and not big budget (I assume), I was pretty sure it would be 2D only. Now the big question is if there will be enough 3D support given how minimal the showings were for Croods and Wonder Woman.

Well, it's converted to 3D for a reason, to watch the film in the best way possible, which is 3D. They invested a lot of money for it after all.

I was obsessed with the original Mortal Kombat movies as a kid. Looking forward to this especially in 3d!

Guessing this is a PG13 Mortal Kombat if it's going to be 3D. This could be cool in 3D with all the projectile weapons and Scorpion's "Get over here!" grappling hook into the screen. I'll be happy if it is released in 3D in theaters.

It's gonna be rated R. The makers themselves have confirmed that it's gonna be rated R. It's gonna feature fatalities and it will be an absolute gorefest, just like the video games.

The rating hasn't come out yet, so we can predict the rating when the trailer comes out. But honestly, I don't think WB will make this a PG-13 film.

Red Band aka R-Rated Trailer

Indian Unrestricted Trailer (they cut a lot from the original trailer)

It's finally here. This is gonna be a treat for all MK fans out there.

Yes, it looks like it is gonna be rated R, just like the video games. The MPA has not rated this film yet.

Every single scene in this trailer is literally made for 3D, which is why we're getting a theatrical 3D release. Hoping for a Blu-ray 3D release as well.

Wow this looks incredible. The "freezing gunshot"

Love the "Resident Evil: Afterlife & Retribution" 3D movies, and this might be the same kind of cool & stylish "a little bit bloody" action in 3D

WB, so there's a chance they'll still be belting out a 3D disc worldwide.

they havent made an album since 2000, though a few other tracks floating about on soundcloud like "rock" which has a class taxi driver de niro vid, and their remix of 'epic' by faith no more which is fantastic, but despite many promises no 3rd album yet.
they just dj now really

their 'believe in me' and ' i still think of you' vids were made with 3d virtual reality graphics in part.

just checked and they retweeted the new movie trailer, so who knows..

New poster to announce the MPA rating given below:

Rated R for strong bloody violence and language throughout, and some crude references.

RealD 3D release confirmed long back, so don't worry if you don't see the RealD 3D logo in this poster.

Most likely no. If there was, nudity would be mentioned in the rating reason.

Thanks. That's hopeful for the franchise. And good to hear it's going to be in 3D afterall.

Watching the first part of a trailer for this, it looked very tame and off target with the characters, but then in the R rated trailer, they show more familiar characters and then some fights and it's looking more on par for Mortal Kombat thankfully. I'll give this a chance as a fan of the first Mortal Kombat which I also saw in theaters when it was released I think in 1995. That film had some very good fight scenes despite no blood.

Matching the new games would be really tough in terms of the bone breaking attacks and suffering the characters endure. I can only imagine this film will be tame in comparison but I don't mind if I'm wrong about that.

The downside to R-rated 3D movies is that they get even fewer showtimes in theaters due to the smaller audiences. As has been the case for the past year, I think the best chance most of us have to see this in 3D will be via a 3D Blu-ray release.

Dredd 3D was R rated but had a good amount of 3D shows back when 3D was thriving in theaters in September 2012, 2 years after Avatar 3D December 2009.

Resident Evil Afterlife 3D was rated R (or was it? IMDB, I can't find it on there at all yet... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220634...ref_=ttfc_sa_5 )

And that was released in September 2010 in 3D and did well in theaters.

But yeah, in general, R rated films sometimes have more of a challenge if they're in 3D.
I wonder how many Mortal Kombat fans are going to see this film in theaters versus on video? I'm not sure the trailers are enough to draw in big crowds but I could be wrong.
