The danish (identical to dutch release) included the 90 min utes long dokumentary - Does that ruin the PQ when this is also o the disc?
I saw the american release was on a 25GB release but don't know if the danish release is a 25 or 50 gb release. Somebody who can answer on that, then please do so, I'm might be getting this ? |

Sure but for example not lot know/like A Bout de Souffle but those that do will be free from any ridicule.
It's most likely they didn't compress the video encode. DVDTalk joked that it could probably even fit on a single layer HD-DVD without the audio track so it's probably unaffected even on a 25GB disc. |

I don't have the Danish release, but I see that its entry in the database on this site states it's a 50GB disc. I have the Australian release; the transfer on that is the same as the UK and German ones, and it's very good. The PQ is definitely better than the review of the US release would suggest. So I can't answer directly about the Danish release, but I hope that's helped a bit anyway. |

yes but with the addition of a long dokumentary it might sqeese in some place it did with ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOE'S NEST when it was re-released with extra new content - the picture went a little bit soft - not much but little to copemsate for the new material on the disc |

I've checked the disc I have. It turns out it's only a 25GB disc (and only uses about 19GB anyway), and it does not have the "Journey to 10,000" documentary on it. It has two short featurettes: "A Wild and Woolly Ride" and "Inspiring an Epic", each of them around 13 minutes long, plus an alternate ending. It appears to be the same disc as the UK release, because our disc actually has the UK artwork on it, with the UK BBFC logos. (That often happens, since we're the same region.) There was a previous release in Australia that was reported to be on a 50GB disc, but it also had a digital copy on the same disc as the film. I don't know what transfer or extras it had. At some point, it was discontinued and was replaced with this current one. Sorry, that's all the info I have. ![]() |

Well that means it is identical to the danish disc i would think - so how is the picture and sound here on this disc and is the film worth it ? Mark |

Again, personal opinion:
The PQ is quite good -- it's not one of those transfers that will make your jaw drop, but there's plenty of fine detail, with no sign of noise reduction or edge enhancement, or of the image being squashed to fit the 25GB disc. And the Dolby TrueHD audio track has plenty of dynamic range, and solid punch when it's needed. The film itself gets a lot of criticism, and I admit I can see why. If you enjoy Roland Emmerich films (I do!), you'll know what to expect, but I would have to say this is probably his least successful effort. It's like a slightly dumb comic book written by Edgar Rice Burroughs or Robert E. Howard -- throw in a dash of von Daniken, and if you're happy with that, I reckon you'll find this entertaining enough, but it's never going to be your favourite flick. |
