LG makes 4K Ultra HD BD-ROM drives that support M Disc technology. I wish Pioneer would come out with a replacement to the Pioneer BDR-211UBK and start supporting M-Disc technology.
https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Computer/Computer+Drives/BDR-211UBK#specs The LG WH16NS60 supports M-Disc technology but many years ago I had issues with LG optical drives recording quality and switched to Pioneer optical drives. However over the many years LG has become a high-end electronics company and maybe their optical drives are much better then they use to be. I am temped to get the first generation LG WH16NS60 but I wish there was some type of extensive review between that drive and the Pioneer BDR-211UBK. M-Disc technology can last up to or over a 1,000 years for recordable media versus only 100 years for regular recorded optical discs. Combine M-Disc technology with 128GB BDXL technology and one has a 128GB optical disc that in theory could last more then 1,000 years. https://www.lg.com/us/burners-drives/lg-WH16NS60 Last edited by HDTV1080P; 07-30-2018 at 08:34 PM. |
