Criterion Night Moves 4K UHD (1975) (Criterion Collection)

Night Moves (1975) coming to 4K on March 25th from Criterion!

Regarding the different grading, member yoloswegmaster420 reached out to Criterion and found out they're using a Technicolor IB print for their color reference:

Quote:
We used a Technicolor IB print (from the time of release) for color reference that was held at Warner Bros. We scanned the original negative, and color timed the movie to closely match the print. We feel that this master most closely resembles the original timing of the movie than anything else done to date.

For some reason I thought this was the Christopher Lambert film, but thought 1975 couldn’t be right (and different spelling). Never heard of this one. Looks interesting.

I love this film.

I absolutely hate this artwork. This is just downright bad.

Not gonna lie I kinda dig the art. It's been a while since I've seen this but I remember this is pretty significant in it

Bad art, but great movie. Definite buy—I watch this film 2-3 times a year and a new 4K restoration is super welcome.

This is a great film. I saw it in the theater when it was first released. It's never gotten the attention it deserves.

Cover art opinions aside, this movie rules and it’s great to see it added to the collection/upgraded to 4K.

The WAC Blu-ray was great already, but in native 4K with DV this should surely beat it. Happy to see it's in the original 1.85 OAR too.

WOW! This was not expected. Great film, one of the best of the 1970's.

The Warner Archive Blu is quite nice, but 100% worthy of a 4K upgrade.

Agree about the cover art. Just tweak the theatrical poster and it would be perfect.

Never heard of this film before but the fact that this is a former WAC title now being given the Criterion treatment really intrigues me. Oh, and I'll blind buy a copy without a doubt

Yeah, 2nd month in a row with a former WAC BD going to 4K. The first being Performance (1970)

If you love The Conversation this is also prime Gene Hackman.

I can watch it on repeat. Great hot summer movie.

I’m very choosy about which titles that I upgrade to 4k, but Night Moves is a no-brainer. Excellent movie, one of my favorites from the 70s, and as someone pointed out it’s perfect for a hot summer evening.

I'm convinced more than ever that Scarecrow is with Criterion. With the WAC releases and Schatzberg's appearance in the closet.

I'd be surprised if the WAC transfer was accurate though. It looks like so many older masters that leaned a little too red.
