United Kingdom UK Slasher Movie Thread

I love slasher movies, it's my favourite horror sub genre. There's a great thread in the North American forum that's been going a while but I wanted to start one here for UK releases and also perhaps region free foreign releases. Perhaps we can get a bit of a list of all slasher movies released on UK blu ray.

Obviously 88Films has been doing a pretty solid line of slashers on blu (even if I strongly disagree with their definition of a slasher movie at times!) and Arrow Video has plenty of great ones out.

It doesn't matter when the movie came out, in the 80's heyday or more recent offerings. If it's been released on Blu Ray in the UK it would be good to get it added to a list here. I'll do my best to update this initial post over time as we get more suggestions.

I appreciate slashers have niche appeal but we have quite a few horror fans here in the UK forum and I'm sure plenty of you enjoy your slashers.

I picked up the execrable Doom Asylum on Monday. Just released from Arrow Video. I do have the region 1 DVD still although I hadn't seen the movie in some time. The Blu Ray from Arrow looks incredible, amazing PQ for such a low fi movie. The movie itself is a real mixed bag. I'd give it solid marks if it didn't have so much terrible humour, that's what really brings it down (I'd honestly forgotten just how much bad humour there was). The setting is cool, the gore is good, the killer looks cool and I love how it's a rare slasher that takes place all during day time. Just wish the lame jokes could have been jettisoned.

For those who like the movie though, it really does look wonderful on Arrow's release. The extras look solid too.

Nice one Lev. I need a all incompasing UK slasher thread in my life. I've not seen Doom Asylum. The BD arrived Monday but I won't get a chance to check it out until Friday at the earliest. Same goes for 88's Alice Sweet Alice.

I still collect slashers on BD but maybe a little less feverishly than back in the Empire Online days. I'll try and do my part in contributing to a list.

Wow!! Great work Def, you should've started this thread! When I have a moment i'll go through my collection and see if there's anything not mentioned there, although your list is pretty comprehensive as far as UK slashers go. How do you add the link like that? I've never done it before but see people do it all the time on the forums.

Have you got all of the 88Films slasher line? I certainly haven't and I didn't pick up any that I don't consider to be slashers, as I think there are a good number in that line that barely qualify.

Hopefully at lunchtime I can add any from my own collection to the list.

I still love slashers but as I'm not region free, there are a lot of US releases I've missed out on which is fine. I used to be region free but I had too many players break on me so I just gave up .

I hope you enjoy Doom Asylum. Like I said above I would really love it if it didn't have so much terrible humour. other than that though it's a good, albeit very cheesy slasher.

I don't have the Children of the Corn set or Offerings yet but I think I have all the rest either from 88 or from other regions. Some of them I wouldn't have bothered with if I'd known they weren't slashers but I like to blind buy more than your average bear.

There's a ton not in that post that are out here but I don't have the UK version of so haven't got to yet.

To do the picture links you need to take the number from the link and add the [BD ] [ /BD] tag. So from the link,

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Alice...lu-ray/198958/

You'd take 198958 and add [ BD] that number here [ /BD] without the spaces next to the brackets.

Can I suggest using the [small] tag rather than the regular [bd] tag. This way you'll fit more listings in without the loading time..

Example:

[Show spoiler]

You can just copy and paste your original post into Notepad and use the Find and Replace option to save editing time..

I've checked my collection and it's far less that yours Def but i'll list the UK releases in my collection that are not on your above list. I appreciate you've probably got some of these as imports which is why they may not be listed.

The Bogey Man
The Burning
Friday the 13th part 3
Happy Birthday to Me
Happy Death Day
Hide and Go Shriek
The House on Sorority Row
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
Intruder
Madhouse
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Offerings
Satan’s Blade
Sorority Row
The Strangers
Sweet Sixteen
Urban Legend
X-Ray

Madhouse loosely qualifies as it's half a slasher movie.

Any particular reason why we got 'Sleepaway Camp' 2 and 3 but no word of part 1?

I wish 88Films would add subtitles to their Blu-ray releases.
Arrow is by far my favorite Horror distributor, their editions and covers are marvelous.

Thanks levcore and DEF! Although its not in my top 5 fav genres ,I do like few slasher films and have those LE Arrow blu-ray of Dario Argento films.

Few suggestions ..

and this one?

Few titles from Slasher Classics Collection line by 88 Films are already there but not sure if every release in this line can be considered or not. [set country to UK]

It would be great if a mod could just take the content of your first post and put it in mine! I don't suppose you'd be able to go into edit, copy and paste the image urls you have and message them to me? Then I could paste them into the first post.

Thanks for putting together such a comprehensive list for the UK though. I'm thinking it might be good to do another list of region free/ B friendly imports as I have quite a few from Germany and the US.

We've got A Blade in the Dark mentioned but I don't think we have the others. I've never seen Body Puzzle, I need to check it out.

I've gone through the rest of my slasher BDs and of the releases from other regions these are the ones that are also out in the UK.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-H...-Blu-ray/1610/ Anyone know if this UK 2 disc Hills Have Eyes set are the unrated versions? I have the first remake on a Region 1 DVD as unrated, and just wondered. Not sure though if the UK DVD was ever cut though TBH.
