Default The Purge 4 - 7/4/18

Universal Pictures announced today that Untitled Next Purge Chapter will be released on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. On Independence Day, 2018, experience the next terrifying chapter in our country’s 12 hours of annual lawlessness.

Coming off the most successful film in the series, The Purge: Election Year, creator James DeMonaco (writer/director of The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year) returns alongside the producers of this worldwide phenomenon: Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Insidious series, The Visit, Split), Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ouija series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and DeMonaco’s longtime production partner, Sébastien K. Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13, Four Lovers).

The screenplay for the Untitled Next Purge Chapter is written by DeMonaco, who will work closely with the production team to identify a new director for the upcoming film.

----------------------

PS. If this is not a direct follow-up to Election Year, it maybe a prequel story. I would call it: The Purge 4 Fathers.....

I wish they'd return to the roots and make a suspense thriller instead of an action/shoot-them-up kind of thing.

I'll look for the article but the director said while promoting 3 that if he did a 4th Purge movie, he wanted to do a prequel

After the awful third movie, they should leave well enough alone. Anarchy was the only semi-decent entry.

The first one was awful, but I liked Anarchy and Election Year. I think a new director could shed a new vision on The Purge though. With new directors at the helm this could be turned into an iconic series like Hellraiser, Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween.

I'm the exact opposite. I really enjoyed the first one, and hated the two sequels.

I guess I'm the only one who's liked all three so far . But I'm hesitant about a fourth one. Once horror franchises like this continue past 3 films, it gets really worse from here on out. Saw IV and Paranormal Activity 4 were just plain bad and not even entertaining in a disposable, fun trash sort of way.

Prequel trilogy, or GTFO. Also, what about the TV series they announced a few months ago?

They should have a prequel where Donald Trump wins the presidency and creates the first annual purge.

I enjoy this series for what it is...As crazy as the concept is. You can't have the well off without having the poor. The idea of killing off the poor is just insane. Somebody has to take your garbage, has to clean the shitter at a fancy hotel, flip the burgers you stuff your face with. However it's just a Hollywood horror movie so no need to over think it haha.

I enjoyed the first, but really loved 2 & 3 (with a slight edge going to ANARCHY).
