Default SHM-CD newest audio format anyone?

I was just cruising the hmv.co.jp site and noticed that all the Zep albums are being released in Aug. on this new format. "What's more, the papersleeve titles to be released this time will be in the UK-style "E-format" instead of the American "A-format" used in the previous two remasters!!" - whatever that means (E vs. A). Has anybody ever heard these disks? How do they sound and compare with sacd?

It looks like sacd has hit a brick wall as far as new releases in the rock world. I may have to buy these Zep disks again for the umpteenth time if they are really that good. Five of these new Zeppers are in the top 10 sales chart (even though only pre-order now) at the hmv store. Was hoping to hear more in line with the new blu music format some artists are going for.

That's SHM-CD, actually.

It's the standard CD format made from a different material, so it won't sound any better than a regular 44.1/16 CD. Snake oil if ever I saw it.

Sorry for the mistake in the title - now corrected. Yeah - I'm wondering how it could be any better if it's still 16-44. At $25 U.S. a disk they'd better knock my pants off.
