Default Rising Sun - full reissue or just new cover art?

Spotted this new artwork, maybe just new billigual packaging for Canada but the original one is also in stores here. The price is also a few bucks more.

New transfer? One can only hope. I've searched everywhere and haven't seen a thread on this.

I don't have this movie in any format right now, so I might pick it up.

Most likely just be new art. Fox wouldn't invest the $$$ in a new transfer for a catalog title like this.

BTW, I prefer the old art.

Rather than being completely useless, how about you add that info yourself? It would take you less time to update the release, than it would to make your post in fact.

All you had to do was add the Master Movie ID to the new release, as member zbinks did a few days ago. Now the cast is present on there:

It's not a Wal-Mart re-issue. I got my copy at Target and it has the same cover art. For some reason, FOX redid a lot of cover arts to older first wave releases, include Rising Sun. Another one that got redid was The Siege with Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis. FOX also did a ton of re-issues of Terminator with that God awful Sony disc that they acquired and did probably five different cover art copies until the remaster came out earlier this year.

I recently purchased this alternative art version BD of this movie which I have not seen since the days of VHS. This has way more movie content from the bare bone theatrical version of the past. It is far more interesting with much more meat on the bone for the plot of this easily dismissed movie. I can not even believe that this is the same film I really liked and watched so many times. On this disc it is 16:9 Ratio. Transfer is not the best but compared to other movies of this period. I would rate it better than most from the 90s era of film.

What do you mean by this? This has way more movie content from the bare bone theatrical version of the past.

I dunno but I always thought this was a good movie.
The BD was a triple-dip for me and I was not disappointed in the quality either.

I just don't remember all these scenes. The movie I remember seem like half of it was cut out from it. I could be wrong but Its seems like they added quite a few cut scenes from the movie. Please feel free to correct me if I happen to be wrong I tried to look up the run time of the vhs and dvd and theatrical running time.

According to IMDB, Rising Sun is 129 minutes. There are no other versions of the movie, only the theatrical release, which should have the same running time on all previous home video formats: (VHS, laserdisc, DVD and blu-ray). As a matter of fact, I still have Rising Sun on laserdisc, and it states: 129 minutes on the back cover as well. So that confirms it. I could be that, you just have not seen the movie in a very long time, and had forgotten some of the scenes in the film.

Anyone else experience issues with this disc? I popped it in and there's picture and motion but the menu never comes on, it just goes on a loop. I tried various buttons but can't get the menu to come up.
