Default 7th Gen vs 8th Gen Intel processors

So, I'm looking for a PC upgrade, and looking at systems that will get me ten years down the road or so. I like the Gigabyte Z370 WiFi motherboard, paired with an Intel i5-8600K processor. I was kind of wanting to stay 7th gen, though, and an i5-7600K processory with an ASRock Fatil1ty 270 Gaming ITX/ac board is pretty much the same price.

The Z370 based setup has a pair of M.2 drive sockets. This would be new to me, but I would utilize one at least, provided it can boot from a M.2 drive. It doesn't explicitly say that it will, like the ASRock motherboard will. Also, the 8th gen Intel processor is a hexacore piece, instead of the 7th gen quad core.

Ultimately, for the neglible price difference, am I better off running with the 8th gen processors? Everything else in the build can stay the same, so nothing changes in either performance or pricing.

Thanks.
