I prefer BvS personally. I really liked Civil War, but I just overall liked BvS more. Civil War is the better made movie and has less plot holes, but I'll still take BvS. I just find watching characters I connect with more and have enjoyed all my life more enjoyable to watch than the better made movie of characters I kinda don't care about.

I loved both movies, but I have to give the edge to BvS. I didn't think given the situation the opponents should be holding back on each other. That just really lowers the tension. I also loved the much darker tone of BvS. Don't get me wrong though, I highly enjoyed both films (CW - 4.5/5, BvS - 5/5).

There exists a better Batman vs Superman movie out there...it's called World's Finest, and it's a 3 part episode arc in the Superman animated series from the 90s. Sure, it's only an hour or so of running time, but if you want to see a more substantial plot...I recommend it. The only loss in it's
[Show spoiler] .As a Batman lover, I found BvS to be okay. I just think that I would have preferred a more fit Lex Luthor. Jesse Eisenberg isn't a bad actor, but I really thought he wasn't Lex. We had Gene Hackman AND Kevin Spacey play live Lex, with Clancy Brown voicing toon Lex...and the thing I enjoy across all of them...the man was charming, cunning, rich, and he was a very persuasive man. On top of that, he had a good physical presence for a man. You get to see him smiling, speaking charming words, shaking hands with the social and political elite...and yet in his mind, he's already begun spinning brilliant plans to enact. He was the kind of man that conveyed multiple presences that if you were NOT Superman or Batman or whoever, you really didn't want to piss him off. Jesse just seemed to be skinny, a bit hyperactive, and had such a crazy approach that just physically manifested easily. He just didn't fix Lex to me...he was just somebody who had too much coffee on a daily basis and thought he could out-peen the Man of Steel and Dark Knight. On top of that, [Show spoiler] .Civil War, alas, has to get the vote from me. Even with the exhibition cast they rolled out for this movie, it still brought a more entertaining experience all around. And they definitely had shown [Show spoiler]

BvS for me.
I really enjoyed Civil War, but after leaving the theater I didn't really feel the need to see it again. I'll probably pick it up on release day on Blu and watch it a couple of times, but that will probably be it. With BvS, I've seen it three times now and every time I watch it, I like it more and more. I am aware that it has it's problems, but the good far outweighs the bad, and hopefully the extended cut makes it even better. |

Batman v Superman is my pick.
I loved Man of Steel, and thought BvS was a solid continuation of that story. I'm a major Horror fan, and the fact that BvS had some Horror-centric moments, that actually managed to unnerve me, was a big plus. Makes me really excited to see what that series will do with some of DC's actual Horror characters. While I love the two previous Captain America films, I strongly dislike all of the Iron Man and Avengers films because of most of the cast (especially Downey Jr., who I have almost no patience for) and their characters. I thought Civil War was only a slight step up. So, like the Iron Man and Avengers films, I won't be watching Civil War more than once. Unlike BvS which I saw twice in theaters and cannot wait to see in the form of its Ultimate Director's Cut on Blu-ray. |
