United Kingdom Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie : Bonds Beyond Time 3D Blu-ray (2010) [Region B Locked]

Does anyone know anything about this movie? All I've been able to find out is that it has an approximate running time of forty to fifty minutes and that it was brought out to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Yu-gi-oh(not sure if that's the trading card franchise or the movie/tv franchise).

That said, I'm unable to get any details on this site(even the title doesn't come up when I write it in the search engine). So any information would be gratefully received.

John.

I have the UK Blu-ray 3D on order and should have it any time now. I can let folks know if it is playable on Region A players when it arrives.

This landed in the mail today and I popped it in for a quick look. Fair warning: I know abso-smurfly nothing about Yu-gi-oh, and haven't watched more than a few minutes to get a quick impression.

Okay - so here goes:

1) It doesn't list any region code info anywhere on the sleeve or disc, but I tried playing it in my US PS3 and no dice - it is locked to Region B (I know this is bad news for some Anime & 3D fans in the USA)

2) There is no "Blu-ray 3D" logo anywhere to be found either - but it is a legit Blu-ray 3D disc for HDTVs - not anaglyph or side by side.

3) The total runtime in 60 minutes. It looks like the first 10 minutes are a recap assembled from previous Yu-gi-oh films (?) - with the footage converted to 3D. After that, the film itself really kicks in for the final 50 minutes and the 3D is much more dynamic from this point on. The bits I skimmed look depthy - it doesn't appear to be a pop-out bonanza though.

4) The 3D version can only be played with the English soundtrack (this can play in 2D as well). There is a subtitled Japanese version included, but that will play only in 2D. A 2D trailer is also included.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Yu-Gi...Blu-ray/22079/

- This disc isn't listed under blu-ray.com's list of Blu-ray 3D titles - someone with the ability to add it should do so.

Okay - hope that helps!

Default It works on my region A player!

The Region B U.K. release of Bonds Beyond Time Bluray plays on a U.S. Region A Panasonic BDT-210 3D Bluray player. I know this, because I own the player, and ordered the movie from Amazon UK, received it in the mail a few days ago, and have watched the movie a few times now.

When you put the disc into the Region A Panasonic BDT-210, it does not autoplay or load. On the screen, it will say "Press [Play] to play disc". If you just hit "play" nothing will happen, just a black screen. But if you hit your "top menu/pop-up menu" button on your remote, to go to the title screen, it does. The main movie title screen will come up and you can then play the disc.

By the way, I do have all the current firmware updates in my Region A Panasonic BDT-210 3D Bluray Player.

Yes, it has been confirmed to NOT play in a U.S. Playstation 3. But, at least I can confirm it DOES play in a U.S. Region A Panasonic BDT-210, by pushing the "top menu/pop-up menu" button on the remote to bring up the main movie title screen. The movie automatically plays in 3D when connected to a 3Dtv. To watch in 2D, just disable the 3D on your TV...I just disable the 3D eyeware on my tv settings...then the movie automatically plays in 2D.

I know of no other Region A players that will play this disc...so try at your own risk with other Region A players.

That's great news. FYI everybody - I tested it again in my Region A PS3 just to make sure I couldn't figure out some way to get it to play - but it wouldn't cooperate with me - so that is a definite no go.

I don’t see this being available widely, but it’s currently on eBay for $19.99 w/ free shipping so thought I’d give it a try and post here in case anyone else is interested.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/36403634291...mis&media=COPY

NOTE: Read thread above and the detailed description on seller’s page about why 3D isn’t mentioned anywhere on cover.

Hi Elsinore

Thanks for the link. I ordered it after reading good reviews.

I see this listed with the same UPC code by others for half the price but the cover is different - "bonds beyond time" appears on the top for this one while all the less expensive ones have it on the bottom. No mention of 3D anywhere. Amazon has this one with the same cover for less but only mentions it's the first release in 3D (3D does not appear in disc summary).

Came across two other 3D listings. One On eBay for $16 more and the Japanese release for $58.

Yeah, I got this one because I trust that eBay seller, and they went into great detail explaining exactly which version this is on their product description page (even testing it). It was 20 bucks, so figured what the hay. Didn’t want to risk inadvertently getting a wrong one to save a few bucks, then paying for international shipping and waiting a month. Lazy!

Hi Elsinore

Exactly the same reason why I bought it through them too. This way guaranteed full refund because it's listed as 3D.

Let us know what you think! It’s cheaper on Amazon.uk, but must add shipping and much longer delivery time (for me in California anyway).

I picked this up a few years ago from HMV for about £4. I knew there was a 3d version but there was nothing about it on the box or even the 3d blu-ray logo on the disc. I thought I'd try it as it was so cheap. When I played it the 3d menu kicked in on the TV and all was good. If you like the cartoon then it adds a slight edge but otherwise its a forgettable disc. My son is a fan so we enjoyed the story, he filled me in on the basic lore behind it before watching. It did help.

I did like that one of the motorcycles near the beginning pops out of the screen a bit.

Is this the closest we've gotten to Back to the Future in 3D?

Hi farai

So maybe we did overpay for it.

$20? Eh, maybe. Pushing 60 bucks definitely would be.

I think we all over-pay for the majority of 3ds now. This was one of those lucky catches at the right time.

I wonder if someone at a fulfillment desk somewhere is thinking, “why the hell did we just sell out of all those old Yu-Gi-Oh discs in an hour?” BTW, although that seller is sold out, they changed the photo to add a “In 2D and 3D” sticker to the picture.

Just got my copy today. After the show proper starts, after the prologue, the 3D really kicks into high gear and is absolutely superb. Rounded objects with tons of depth, and things pushing out of the screen and sometimes popping right out in your face. Spectacular 3D anime eye-candy, very colorful and engaging, with a silly but serviceable storyline to hang all the visuals on. Man, if only AKIRA had been made in 3D. This is the closest I’ll be able to get. Recommended.
