Default Death in Brunswick (1990) - Sunburnt Screens #22 - 7 December 2022 - Umbrella

Quote:
O-RING EXCLUSIVE TO THE UMBRELLA WEBSTORE!

Carl's life is a minefield. Dave's in charge of damage control.

A riotous rollercoaster of murder and mayhem set in multicultural inner Melbourne, this hit Australian comedy-thriller stars Sam Neill as Carl, a fortyish no-hoper whose takes a job as a cook in a seedy nightclub to escape his cantankerous mother. A flirtation with fetching barmaid Sophie (Zoe Carides) - who is engaged to the nightclub owner - lands Carl on the wrong side of a viscous bouncer but when attacked by his drug-dealing Turkish kitchenhand, Carl inflicts a grievous form of self-defence that sparks a deepening gangland feud. Best mate Dave (John Clarke) is soon employed as Carl's protector - and gravedigger - as a band of cutthroats block Carl's path to his bartending sweetheart.

What is an O-ring? I have seen this offered on other Umbrella releases.

I’ve always had a big soft spot for this film. Sam Neill and John Clarke together are fantastic. Good mates hanging out. Looking fwd to seeing the new transfer. I’ll definitely pick it up.

Default Reversible wrap

I like the Umbrella webstore exclusive slipcover, but I especially like the reversible wrap.

Sounds like the Neil/Clarke commentary was recorded watching a PAL copy of the film, and no one has pitch-corrected it here. Not a big deal, but hard to get used to the deeeep voices.

Anyone ordered this from JB Hi-Fi NZ at any point? Just curious if they are selling it with the slipcover as pictured on their site.

I believe the slipcover was an Umbrella store exclusive, that's where I ordered my copy from. In saying that, I picked up "A Bittersweet Life" off the shelf at JB and it had a slip, I was fully expecting the standard edition not to have one.

I'll probably drop in to JB Hi-Fi on the weekend, I'll see if I can find a copy and let you know if it has a slip

Thanks, that would be greatly appreciated. It was definitely advertised as a website exclusive but it wouldn't be the first time something odd like this happened.

Sorry, two copies on the shelf and neither had a slip. Just standard Sunburnt Screens releases.
