RCA is not a type of cord...it's a type of connector found on the ends of 75 ohm audio/video cables.

In other words, yes.

The only thing about using regular composite RCA cables instead of component RCA cables is that composite cables have a "stranded" core of wires whereas a component cable has a solid core. The solid core carries the signal MUCH better than a stranded cable. That is why they are less flexible and cost more than the el cheapo composite ones.

Coax can be solid core or stranded core. And either type can be made into a composite OR a component cable.

As you say, though, better component cables will be solid core. Be wary of copper clad steel core, though. This is a cheaper coax cable that is used where strength for pulling it through conduits is more important than signal integrity.

Belden and Canare make some of the best coax, in both RG6 and RG59 sizes. In general, cable thyat makes a good compnent cable will also make a good digital coax. Bluejeans cable has some good info on their site about these (and they are a good source to buy from as well).
