Default Killer Dames: Two Gothic Chillers

At the height of the Italian giallo boom in the early 1970s, scores of filmmakers turned their hand to crafting their own unique takes on these lurid murder-mystery thrillers. This limited edition double pack features two distinctive offerings by Emilio P. Miraglia, which meld twisty whodunit narratives with gothic chills.

In The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave, troubled aristocrat Alan Cunningham (Anthony Steffen, Django the B*stard), haunted by the death of his first wife Evelyn, tries to move on by marrying the seductive Gladys (Marina Malfatti, All the Colours of the Dark). Marital bliss is short-lived, however, as various relatives meet untimely and gruesome deaths, prompting speculation that a vengeful Evelyn has risen from the grave...

Meanwhile, in The Red Queen Kills Seven Times, an age-old family curse hits sisters Kitty (Barbara Bouchet, Milano Calibro 9) and Franziska (Marina Malfatti) following the death of their grandfather Tobias (Rudolf Schündler, The Exorcist, Suspiria). Every hundred years, so the legend goes, the bloodthirsty Red Queen returns and claims seven fresh victims. Was Tobias just the first... and are Kitty and Franziska next?

With both films making their worldwide Blu-ray debuts in stunning new 2K restorations, there has never been a better time to explore these little-seen giallo gems!

I'm kicking myself for getting the DVD set not too long ago. Oh, well, at least I got an action figure out of it. I have my preorder in directly through Arrow, so I'm hoping it'll be shipping out before too much longer.

I'm SO annoyed that Arrow UK have moved their release of The Human Condition Trilogy to August, as it means that my order of that, Killer Dames, and the upcoming release of Blood Bath will be held back two more months before they ship, because they only ship complete orders now.

Have you tried contacting them? I wonder if they would split the order since it's their delay. Yeah, this is another plus for using Amazon. Even when there a pre-order in my purchase, they always send out the available items right away.

The first review is up from Dvd Drive-in.
Its kind of disappointing though that most of the special features come from the old NoSHame release and that they couldn't secure an interview with Bouchet or Malfatti. That being said, I guess the audio commentary with the usually excellent combo of Alan Jones and Kim Newman, plus the inclusion of Thrower make up for it.

I pre-ordered Killer Dames: Two Gothic Chillers from Deep Discount the split second that I heard about it. This one seems right up my alley.

Its a shame that the BR doesnt gain much for clarity. Its also a bit darker but no white clipping though. I will still get this one.

It's a definite step in clarity though, you have to admit. I'd say Red Queen definitely looks darker, but the DVD looks too bright and contrasty to me. Some shots in Evelyn look darker, and some look lighter. Am I seeing a slight teal push too? Anyways, I'm curious to see how they're reviewed. And to see how they look on my TV.

Evelyn always looked way too dark for my liking on the DVD. You can't see sh!it during the night scenes. I think they both look fine on blu-ray. Although I like the bright colors on the DVD for Red Queen. But clarity is so much better on the blu-ray. Definitely gonna buy this set

So you have never seen them? They are both good gialli. Especially the Red Queen. I am curious what you think of its ending

I too like Red Queen better, but Evelyn has Erika Blanc. This is more than enough for me to revisit it again & again

I was kind of hoping they would pick this poster for The Red Queen Kills Seven Times:
