With the first Dolby vision discs coming out in June, does anyone know when Sony plans release their Dolby vision firmware update for their 2027 lineup? Is it around that time?

Thanks for the catch. Won't let me edit it for some reason. Mid 2017 would line up with the dispicable me dolbyvision blu ray then probably. Right?

Yes. Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 UHD BD is coming in June.
But no signs for Sony TV's supporting Dolby Vision. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk |

At the Sony event here in Toronto last week, they said DV will be a firmware update in the next few months. They do not have the actual chip in the sets for DV but they have met the standards so Dolby has given the OK apparently.

“Sony has brought Dolby Vision, a superset of HDR10+ to its X93/94E series, 2017 LCD TVs and the results place this Bravia back on top. “ OK, I am confused. He mentions HDR10+. I think he knows less than I do. ![]() Bottom line, is this article saying that DV looks better than HDR10 on a Sony LCD? ![]() |

DV vs HDR10 isn't cut and dry. Most displays currently cannot be calibrated in DV mode (grayscale and CMS), so if you have a pro calibrated HDR10 mode, chances are it will overall be more accurate in HDR10. I am in this category currently.
If you are just watching in stock modes, then I think DV will prob be better. |

“In May 2015, Samsung and Amazon Video brought HDR to the market using the HDR10 open standard, the first in the field. This bold and innovative advancement laid the groundwork for several HDR launches. From Hollywood film studios to global TV manufacturers, HDR10 is the most broadly used HDR standard today.”
But, But, But I thought Dolby was responsible for the development of HDR10. ![]() |
